Won't Pass Smog

Well I found out the hard way about passing smog. Well for a long time I couldn’t pass smog and couldn’t figure it out. Well find out that I just need to change my 02 sensor. 90-91 have 1 02 sensor and I think the 92-93 hjave 2 02 sensors. Hope this helps you cali peeps out!

Also by doing this you will increase your fuel economy. Raised my 250ish miles per tank to 300-340 per tank! YIPPY!!!

94 and up have two O2 sensors. ODB1 for 92-93’s. I plan on replacing mine for good measure soon.

if you have a b16a1 setup you can use the o2 sensors out of a passport which are heated and made by gm essentially which lowers the price of the sensors dramatically

o2 sensor

how much do o2 sensors usually go for OEM

I have a 92 ls and I get 250-280 a tank, and that doesnt seem like enough for me I changed my fuel filter a little bit ago and that helped, but not too much

any suggestions and answers? thanks

change your o2 sensors, people say it helps, didn’t you read? You can use universal bosch units or the factory ones that come with the appropiate plugs. Call some places to find out prices.

Just get a bosch kind. Its the same. It cost like 30 US dollars. There are two kinds. One comes with the plug wire on there and the other you have to crimp the wire on. Just get the one without the plug and crimp it yourself. ITs really easy and cheaper. The OEM will be expensive I’m assuming just cuz its from the factory/dealer.

I’m sure it will help or make you pass smog if you change this. I couldn’t pass smog too then I changed O2 and did.

ok from what my acura tech buddy told me , roughly- here’s how to wire up the passport o2 sensors to b16a1 head/motor

you’ll have 4 wires total, 2 from each sensor. one wire is for the heating element, other for the sensing element. now of the four wires, 2 will have to be grounded, one will go to the header and 1 will go to the black with yellow stripe wire coming out of the distributor- this gives the o2 sensor the ignition to work from. hopes someone can make some sense out of this- guess the message got a little jumbled up in the translation- but using heated o2 sensors will make the motor run a lot more efficiently, but at WOT it’ll be the same

hear in texas they only rev the engines for smog checks to about three thousand rpm. If you got an adjustable FPR just drop the pressure. I have heard of some people disconnecting the Injector on one of their cylinders around the corner from the test station, but i would not try it myself.
