WTF?! new head and still slow

Well I really havent gotten the chance to test my car, I just put on the JG Pro Series head setup for FI, 3angle swirled valves, springs and retainers portmatched intake manifold. I was racing my friend CRX si all he has is intake and dropped exhuast, I had dropped exhaust and no intake I was running right off the TB. But we tied! wtf? i could tie with him when the car was stock. Something wrong here?

u dont’ want open TB it hurts the perf trust me. you want the tubes to be longer it gives it some pressure to increase the velocity.

So, whats the next step a header or nitrous?

get header first it’ll give you plenty of torque

someone said this >>Do you have any FI? If not, why are you using an FI head and expecting gains? It probably gutted your low to mid range. a ported head is flowed to the application it was made for. The size of the ports are based on this and other things like how high your redline is. The bigger the port volume, the more air volume that can be transferred through them. However, the bigger the port volume, the slower the air travels if it is just depending on the difference in pressure between the atmosphere and in the cylinder…without the assistance of boost the air flow velocity is just killed by the port volume for FI. The result is no low to midrange power and a narrow high powerband without boost. Add boost and you get a different story. >>

So i was thinking what if i got a header, test pipe, and put my stock exhuast back on?

header, exhuast and test pipe runs better than header test pipe stock.

is your timing set right? TPS sensor?

I agree with what “someone said”, bigger is not always better. Where did you get this head? What was your reasoning for getting a FI head over a NA head?

I’m planing on going FI, but not for a couple more months, I thought the head would give me a few more HP, not take some away.

The only way that head is going to help is if you have a tun of N/A mods like new IM,TB Headers, hiflowcat, cams/springs/retainers (new revlimit) and catback. NA cars really don’t need to breath more until higher RPM’s. Also after all this your car may require fuel tuning/control before you notice your gains. For NA your car has really got to be flowing a lot of air to need mods like your jg head. That means everything upgraded I/H/E and RPM limit increased for more high end power.

with FI you won’t notice the gains because you did the mods before you went FI. I am gonna dyno and fuel tune with all my mods I/H/E before I run boost so I can at least somewhat quantify what performance gains they gave me.

If you plan on going FI, why bother buying a header? I assume your going to get a turbo setup, so you won’t be needing that, I would just save that money and get my turbo setup sooner rather than later

I’m going nitrous now, and I’m not going to be buying a header.

I put my intake back on, and that gave back some power, my CAI should be coming soon.
