00 si header on 92 gsr

i’ve asked this before, but i need your help g2guru or anyone else who is familiar with this bolt on. i know your have to remove the crossmember support to make it fit on non-gsrs, and that gsrs do not have this extra support, but after looking at the clearance again, will i have to do ANY kind of cutting or shaving off the cross member to make the header fit? i’m doing this thursday and i’ve already ordered the 00 civic si 4-1 dc header, so any tips before would greatly help. thanks!

You will have to notch the crossmember slightly, but not much. It’s not that bad. Nothing like a JDM ITR header or DC JDM ITR 4-1. However, you will have to have your test pipe/catalytic converter cut and extended. The 00 Si header is shorter than the GSR header, and the flange is flipped exactly opposite so the bolts won’t line up. Best of luck.

I can’t tell you about your specific header, but I can tell you a whole lot about notching the crossmember. Took me 4 tries to get it perfect, my header goes a little beyond notching. I found an elcheapo electric grinder at Harbor Freight for $19. I made two seperate notches, pretty much grinding off all the lip area where my primaries were. Then I had to use a ball pein hammer to dent it in for added clearance.

To take off the crossmember you need to take off one caster arm (I did drivers side) and take just the nut off the other side, take off two bolts that attach your tranny motormount to the tranny, you can leave the mount on the crossmember. I left the mount on because I could not thread the mount bolt with my header installed. Next take off your tow hooks 3 bolts a piece. If you have ABS you may have to unbolt the accessories mounted to your crossmember. Next take off the 4 bolts holding on the crossmember, you can slide the crossmember off the caster arm that you didn’t remove. The crossmember isn’t really that heavy mostly cumbersome to work with. If you do have to notch your crossmember keep in mind that when you bolt your caster arms back on it will pull the crossmember a bit closer towards your headers.

well if i got the gsr header would that fit better? if not i guess i can get it modified a bit. a little more work then i expected, thought it was just notch and bolt on. but thanks
