Trying to see if I have an ECU code for my misfire, I just started it this morning after sitting for a week and it seems to happen only when warm so maybe it’s an O2 sensor or something.
Will an obd0 car show an ECU code without a check engine light present?
i thought 90 integra is obd1
After reading, “obd0” is a made up term and not actually a real thing, but 90-91 cars were like some sort of primitive OBD1. 92-93 became the “regular” OBD1 because they got 4-wire o2 sensors (extra wire is the heater circuit I think).
ill see what my service manual says about misfiring when warm.
it is pretty primitive lol sometimes when my engine light comes on i just turn the car off and then the light stays off. i guess when you turn car off on obd1 it just resets everything
I don’t think the ECU light will show anything if the check-engine light isn’t on. Wracking my brain trying to remember.
Whenever that happened to me, I just inspected the plugs, wires, and distributor cap. One of those was always the culprit.
but the engine light illuminates when you turn the ignition on before you start the car right? i mean does the bulb even work?
I think I’ve fixed the misfire. New plug wires seem to have done the trick. I think the old ones would get worse once they heated up. The CEL works but when I jumped the code plug it didn’t flash so it didn’t have any codes.
I also fixed the huge oil leak coming from the cam plug. Replaced the old one with the newer DC style plug that has an o-ring and just pushes on. The engine has a thin layer of sludge in the head but what can you expect for an elderly couple and 220k miles? The lobes all look good but it could probably use a valve adjustment.
Gross gooped up old plug:

Head shot:
i noticed your brake fluid reservoir is on the passenger side, does yours have abs?
oh wait nvm according to this if it is 2 door with sunroof it has alb
wait a second is yours a gs or an rs?
My VIN is JH4DA9462xxxxxx so GS with sunroof and antilock brakes. Light is on for the abs though.
i think that might be where my leak is coming from. i changed the distributor o ring but there is still wetness so it must be leaking else wear. where did you get that part
from?
Oh. dude. If that isn’t the sole source of your leak, it’s at least a main contributor, and that plug leaks way more than you would think. I got mine off amazon and it seems to be legit, here’s the seller: Amazon.com: Genuine Honda 12513-P72-003 Cylinder Head Plug : Automotive
Keep in mind this will require you to remove your valve cover and the end cam cap. Should not be a problem, just remember to torque the four bolts in a star pattern, torque is 7.2 ft lbs. And install the new plug after you reinstall the cam cap.
And make sure you wipe out all the Hondabond and crap they gooped in the aluminum bits before you pop in the new plug.
ugh thats what i was afraid of. i replaced that valve cover gasket like a year ago when i did a valve adjustment and it was such a pain scraping off all the old honda bond. i was so paranoid about getting alittle bit in the engine.. shouldve replaced them then.
oh well i guess i could just replace the gasket again.
well i guess i dont have to replace the valve cover gasket since last time the valve cover gasket was so old it tore to pieces. i could probably reuse the newer one
Looks like you have the blue one like me, it will probably be able to be reused no problem. I only lifted the corner where the cam cap was, left the other three corners in place and carefully seated the valve cover back on making sure the gasket was going back into the channel nicely.
left my oil cap off like an idiot and got oil everywhere.
while i was cleaning the battery ground area i unscrewed the two bolts holding down the ground plate thing and i found a bunch of what looks like corrosion. the bolt in the back is worse, i thought it had a bunch of wet anti seize on it but these bolts havent been touched in years and the silver stuff is hard and wont come off the bolt easy i had to scrape the threads with a terminal cleaner.. i might use a tap and die set to clean the threads.
this is corrosion right? should probably replace the silver bolt
Can you clean it with some brake parts cleaner?
i need to buy some brake clean and spray it all down. i tried scraping the bolts to make them shiny and that silver stuff wont really scrape off. and i am even more confused about the bolt hole because it is very silver in there it looks like its full of anti seize. i was gonna run a tap through it to clean the threads.
also when i look up the ground bolts it is already silver kinda so maybe its normal idk.
i feel like its not good for electricity to flow through especially the bolt hole
It looks like it may be galvanized.
