11.6:1 c/r ls/vtec; is any forced induction possible?

i like it there and it’s given me no problems. kinda a pain in the a$$ to put it there though, but i’d say it was worth it

Wow… ive got a lot to say to this thread… first of all, directly on topic… not only does sleeve strength come into play when running that high of compression… but so does combustion stability… at that compression getting the fuel to ignite isnt nearly as easy as just a lil bit lower. Im not saying it cant be done, but there is a lot of work to be done to get it to work right… And as far as what was said by carchitech about hotter and leaner gets more power… the cooler is better for the car… hotter spark is necissary, and leaner will combust easier at higher compression, but that doesnt mean thats the better way to go. you need to work better at rich a/f mix, and getting it to combust. ie turbo rx-7’s… one reason the detonated so easily was because they ran lean too easily under boost. and guys please be more responsible with the info you post. alot of you know a lot about cars, and quiet a few people who know hardly anything look to you for info. So when you only give someone half the info they need (like saying running hotter lets you make more power) you could easily be setting those guys up for some big time repairs.

Wow I wish I saw this post earlier.

A motor with an 8.5:1 static CR boosting 10psi
10psi/14.7psi = .68
.68 + 1 = 1.68
1.68 x 8.5 = 14.28 effective CR

Now tell me who is going to make more power? The higher CR motor, or the lower CR motor?

So, maybe add more boost to the lower CR motor, right? Wrong…

A motor with an 8.5:1 static CR boosting 13psi
13psi/14.7psi = .88
.88 + 1 = 1.88
1.88 x 8.5 = 15.98 effective CR [/B]

Ok, I don’t know where you got your numbers from, nor do I care. But lets do something for fun mmkay?

First of all, whoever runs only 13psi on an 8.5:1 motor is a fool. At that compression with the properly sized turbo and IC setup 20psi is possible on pump gas. So lets see what your little figures say for that:

A motor with an 8.5:1 static CR boosting 20psi
20psi/14.7psi = 1.36
1.36 + 1 = 2.36
2.36 x 8.5 = 20.06 effective CR

20.06! Wow! That totally blows away the moron running 10psi at a measly 16.8 effective CR. So wait, I thought you said more boost doesnt equal more power? WRONG. You’re done, sit down, and shut up.

Right about now you’re probably saying “but I’ll just turn up the boost on my high compression motor!” Wait, you CANT. Because on shitty pump gas you’ll be knocking like a pimp on his hoe’s door looking for money.

And to MerlinofKolvir, thank you for being one of the few intelligent responses in this thread.

and Notec, just go away. No one wants your advice.
