Yeah got it all shiny and put down the fiberglass filler. I’m on the primer part right now.
Neil please tell us you put primer over the bare metal before starting the filler…!!
OMG I did the same error again! I can’t freaking believe this!

I’m almost done with the clear coat. At least it’s sealed and I got some practice with doing fiberglass fill albeit in the wrong order.
Damm, speaking of paint i just sprayed a spare fender because the one currently on the passenger side doesn’t match. Used a cheap lvlp r500 spray gun and my 25 gallon compressor. Wish i could pull it outside and get some good pics but the sun is blocked off lol
it’s not a consistent spray, I’m guessing?
What are you spraying that you think isn’t consistent?
LOL sorry I misread your previous message. I thought you were complaining. But actually, what I’m seeing are just reflections!!! (the dark spots on the right side of the fender).

How did you like the fiberglass filler compared to standard bondo?
I still have some serious problems with getting a smooth surface. I liked how it hardened quickly and filled the gaps/holes nicely though. That was definitely better. But I still used the glazing putty to get some of the finer fills/transitions. Even so, after several tries, I still cannot get a nice smooth surface and there was still some little valleys etc. After about the fourth attempt I just went ahead and used the filler spray primer and sanded again. It’s “okay” enough for me.
I can definitely see why body repair work is expensive though.
Gotcha, sounds like the best method is what you’ve discovered, filling volume and structural stuff with the fiberglass then getting it smooth with standard filler/glazing putty/ build primer.
I need a house so I can mess with all this stuff lol
