That’s a damn good time for the mods on the car. I was never able to get under a 15.4 with mine and I had all that you did plus the header and was running on BFG drag radials.
yeah, i was pretty surprised when i picked up the slip… the track wasn’t particularly grippy or anything… in fact, it was much better the next week… unfortunately, i heard about that second hand, and wasn’t there to sample the conditions myself…
Sorry not to hijack your threat I just thought I’d drop this in here.
I was at the tract yesterday (first time) and I was hoping to dip into the 15’s a little but never had any luck. I have a high milage '92 RS with CAI and 2 1/4 cat back exhaust with a B&M short shifter. I was also using my 17" rims with fusion ZRI tires. (Going to get some drag radials or something before I go out again)
This was my best run.
Reaction - .9620
60 ft. - 2.4459
330 ft. - 6.8791
1/4 ET - 16.0380
1/4 MPH - 89.26
I do know I have blue smoke coming out of my exhaust so I’m thinking my valves have almost had it but one of the friends I went with claims he can hook me up with a block head with very low milage for about $50. So hopefully that’ll work out and I could get new cams and forget pistons. Then the summer after go turbo.
yea practice launching somewhere safely. i ran 15.1 with arospeed intake, ebay short shifter custom exhaust no back interior stock tires, ebay coilovers and black widow body kit with an umbrella for a back bumper. you guys can do better. its been well over a year since i dtiched the whole car after it blew on me.
but yea work on shifting and driving tech and youll drop down hella far.
ask g2tegra i drove his B20 and suprised him. also while not driving stick in over a year either lol.
but yea all in all work on driving and you can drop that second off.
yeah, your mph is faster than mine, even with the 17s, which means the car itself is quicker than mine… it’s all in the launch, tho… general rule of thumb is that u lose 2 tenths at the quarter mile mark for each tenth u take off in the 60’… getting your 60’ from 2.4 to 2.1 could be worth around 6 tenths, theoretically…
blue smoke generally means there’s oil getting into the combustion chambers… there’s a number of ways it could be getting there, tho… it would be best to do a leak down test (http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/engine/30.html) to find out for sure…
I feel like what’s really holding me back is shifting from 1st to 2nd. When I rev over 4,000 it doesn’t seem to wanna fall into second gear very well. It takes a second before it’ll drop down in. I know my friends CRX has the same problem. Is this a big problem for Honda’s/Acura’s? Although I was definatly getting a lot of wheel spin as well but I think that’s in part to my tires. They run at 50psi and I dropped it to 40psi while I was at the track but I know that’s still pretty solid. They wouldn’t hook up at all.
damn, i’m running a b16a, ls1 tranny, b&m short shifter, megan header, 2 1/4 exhaust. falken azenas up front, and I can’t get below 16.5!!! What the hell!!!

My newest integra is a full interior 2 dr integra gs with intake, header, full exhaust, lightened flywheel, good cluctch and thats bout it I spun a bearing last year and got it back on the road like 2 weeks ago and havent made it to the track yet, heres last years time with setup shown above.
green one…the thing about the “hard” shifting from 1st to 2nd is actually pretty common along a lot of transmission not just hondas/acuras but you do hear a lot of people with hondas and acuras complaining or asking about it.
reason that your finding it kinda hard to shift from 1st to 2nd is because of all the torque that is in thos 2 gears…thats the biggest torque difference change in all gears…so they do take the most beating and that is also a reason y when you hear about shifting problems (grinding) its usually with the lower gears (more stress on synchros = shorter life).
to me it seems that honda has imporved on that problem…when im road testing cars at work or when im driving a newer car it doesnt seem to really have a “hard” shift but actaully opposite…to me it feels like with very little effort you are able to shift easily/smooth and it seems like it actually wants to “jump” into gear.
besides you dont wanna shift faster or slower than your transmission you want to be shifting at the perfect time but then again thats hard as hell doing that everysingle time you shift…hahaha
lol i love these post. Now i have a 90 integra. But its nothing like my 2004 si. My 2004 si runs a low 15 at best stock. And the new si’s are lucky to get 15 flat stock with 200hp. My si will mutilate my integra all day long. the integras aren’t slow, but there not 15 second cars. Theres no way a b18a integra would run with my si. In hanover pa i smoked a b16 92 integra, and a b16a crx. Your da with 200k+ km and minor mods can run with a 2006 civic si 6 speed? So how does your car run a low 15? hopes and dreams thats how.
If you want to know exactly how fast the new Civic will go in the quarter, wait for Motor Trend to try it and get their posted times. They are fairly consistant at getting the best out of any car in the 1320.
My brothers '91 Teg OWNED a '04 SI this past weekend. Put four cars on him by 2nd gear. Your car might be quick, but don’t say hopes and dreams to get it into the low 15’s. That’s not only arrogant, but more importantly, ignorant. His car runs 14.80 at 93mph… for now.
lol motortrend?! The new si have been out for some time. Many have done road tests on them. Some very good drivers are getting high 14’s with slicks, stock. I raced an all stock 06 si, and we were dead even. Now i know slicks can help out tremendously in the 1/4, but how does it take 2+ seconds off your et?
What mods does your brother have? if you say bolts ons i have to call bs. I wouldn’t even race a g2 teg unless he had serious engine work or forced induction. LOL my friend has a 94 civic, d16z6 with bolt ons. Its so funny when we mess around, i just hit the gas, let go, hit it more, let go, and easily stay ahead. And they are similar in performance to a g2. I have a g2 myself, but i know what its capable of.
