Trying to decide if i should ride 16’s or 17’s
been working on rolling some rota grids on my DA, but im not sure whioch ones i want to go with.
My integra has a Custum molded accord lip kit, and dropped on Eibach pro kit.
Id like to see some pics of people running a lip kit on some rims. thanks for the Help.
It really depends on how much power the car is making. If the car is mostly stock, honestly, you should stick with 14-15" wheels. If you’re 20-50 HP over stock, 16" wheels might be a good choice. 17s are really pushing it and you better be boosted or something before you start going down that path. Keep in mind too, a bigger diameter wheel will not only slow down acceleration but also deceleration. Luckily our cars came with great brakes, but if you’re going to 17s you should definitely make sure your brakes are working well, and possibly consider some kind of upgrades. Looks are not the only factor to consider when upgrading wheels, they will affect lots of things, including gas mileage.
im already running cross drilled and slotted breaks all around, its making a few more HP than stock. got a header and intake and Chipped ECU. i mplannig on autocrossing in the future.
If you plan on Autocrossing in the future, Why do you want 17’s? Looks? If you plan on just cruising around town then 17’s would be cool, But if you are real serious about autocrossing and Daily driving, I would suggest 15’s or even 16’s. In my opinion some 17’s just look way too big. But with you set up and lip mods, it may look just right.
good point, 16’s would be better for auto crossing, i did have 17’s on it once but it was stock and no lip mods and well the type of wheel looked too bling bling on it…
I autocross my 'teg, I have about the same mods as you minus the chip. I just got a set of snowflakes for my race tires. They’re 15" and they do just fine for autox. If you want a seriously competitive autox car, I’d save my money for some Konis and/or bigger sway bars, and keep the wheels you’ve got (they look like 15s?).
On the brakes, if the slotted/drilled rotors you have are the same size as stock ones, I doubt they make a huge difference. The reason brake discs are slotted is to facilitate heat removal but there are lots of people out there who would argue that removing all that surface area from the disc only makes them less effective in the long run. You’d probably be better off with stock rotors and a set of good street performance brake pads like the Hawk HPS or something similar.
This is all just my opinion and what I’ve heard…do your own research and make your own decisions, based on what you think is best. :read:
maybe i can get a set of Si rims and use those for autocross and use 16’s or 17s for the street.
im currently runin the stock 14’s and i really dont like the sidewall flex on them when i turn. sorry forgot to add i fgot front, back and C pillar bars on the car. fixing to put a Lower tie bar on today. aand i pla on upgrading the rear sway for the green one offered in SummitRacing. and also later one Adjustable shocks
my brother got 17 on his DA, way too heavy, looks great, but negative is that its way heavy. id pro go wit 16s, 15s are great, style…kind of small, id say GO WITH THE 16’s and you’ll be happy, they look almost like 17s
