hey i need some help, i got a sick deal on 17x8 with a 35 offset. now i know 17 is not good for track racing but the i saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am3GB8s8_a0
yess spoon ek k20 runs with
front:255/40/17 rear:215/45/17 plz tell me why ???
i was think to run 225/45/17 all around on my da or do i need 225/40/17
17" are good for track racing depends on how heavy the rim are. another reason why 17 are good is because you get to run wider tires lets say 225/45/17 can be found easy on alot of tires companies also 235/245/40/17. but then again i just dont like how 17 looks on a DA without a huge front splitter and side skirts.
Whats your plan? are you going to track out your car?
Im thinking youll definately have fitment issues with 235 17’s, if its even possible. Not only will you have problems clearing the inside of the tire when turning, but youll have to flare out your fenders to fit, and your still probably rub then. Also, youll need to run some mean camber. And that civic in that video would look much better with 16’s.
I would NOT want anything bigger than 16’s, especially for a track car.
My buddy is racing an EG at autox this year and is running 225 rcomps on 15’s and we had to flare his fenders out like crazy, and hes at -3* camber. Fitment will still be tight.
I dont see why it wouldnt work .Judging by what i see in my fender well there should be plenty of room. Setup info - 16x8 20et 225-50. There`s room for another inch of wheel width and deff more tire. Unless a rolled/pulled/spaced fender is something you dont want to do.
16 inch sucks for tire size selection and 15 is weak for brakes.
I have thought long and hard about it and 17 is the best way to go. 17x9 with a 255 up front with a 16x8 225 out back. Stoptech brakes require 17 inches.
I would try to keep the tire size around 25 inches tall
the 225/45/17 will fit as long as you arent dropped any. thats about as wide as you can go. I personnaly had a set of 225/50/17 falken ziexs on a set of +38 offset 17s back in the day, they only fit in the rear and rubbed real hard on corners.got them real cheap so i lived with it this was on stock suspension btw. if the offset is less it’ll rub harder as mine rrubbed on the outside of the tire. i dont see any way a 255 would ever fit the front of DA on a 17, the smallest 255 is going to be a 255/40/17.
i had those wheels 10 years ago, iirc the 225 touched the spindle in front so with the 255 you would need really low offset wheels not to touch.
If i had 17’s and need tires i would go with a 215/40/17 all around, wont mess the speedo up much and will fit with no issues, since you are saying a track car, azenis come in that size
