I recently got a 1990 Acura Integra GS 4-door. I start the car and it idles fine but when I shift into gear push the gas the car dies. What it could be the problem?
Automatic or manual trans? and it only shuts off after pressing the gas pedal or will it shut off just from being in gear/drive?
It’s automatic. Well yesterday I change the ECU from my old previous Integra and I were able to drive the car for 5 minutes before it dies. At stop it idles really low.
Did the car die while driving or at a stop in gear?
I’m wondering if the throttle cable is too loose and In gear/under load makes the car cut off from essentially not enough air.
But if it’s cutting out while driving and the throttle plate is open then it’s gotta been another issue.
Sounds like a clogged catalytic converter, maybe clogged air filter or rats nest in the intake. A bad O2 sensor will let you limp home and run rich. Any CEL codes? Did you fix?
The car has an aftermarket intake. There isn’t any CEL codes that pop up. I haven’t fix it yet.
