I have a good to fair condition 1990 Integra Black GS Sedan. I am
finishing up the wiring details of the engine swap since the engine
installed came a 1992. The car has an OBD 0 wiring harness, but
people recommend running OBD 1 for better upgrade options.
The Engine is a true B17 DOHC VTEC 160hp to 170hp with 117torque
(OEM), but I have reason to believe the engine was modified from the
original owner. I am the 3rd owner of this engine. Reason why I
think it is modified is cause when I used to drive the car through the
I 90, one time I wide open the throttle at 85mph, and literally jumped
from 85 mph to 130mph, really fast!! I was shocked that I
forgot the count, I was more concerned about Cops, Deers, other people.
I was truly amazed. But due to court harassment’s, needlessly I had to
part out the GSR for court reason. B17a engines are farely hard to
come by, and usually go for anywhere between $1500 to $3000 for the
long block + ECU (depending on condition & transmission) OEM specs
on B17a are 160hp to 170hp/117lbs of torque. This one has not been
dyno’d for any specs, but my guess is the engine output is closer to
190hp, and maybe 130lbs of torque.
The transmission came from a 1992 US Canadian market sedan that I had.
I parted that car after sliding it underneath a wire fence luckily not
hitting any poles or trees, just scratching the paint (wet mossy road
conditions) (This is also where I got the Interior) This transmission
is unique OEM setup gear system. This YS1 transmission 1-5 actual
gear ratios I believe are the same as GSR YS1 transmission (no
grinding when shifting and smooth change overs) But here is the
difference. This 1990 Integra with the 1992 transmission in 5th gear
gives you 2800 at 60mphs. An OEM 1990 - 1991 Integra transmission at
60mphs in 5th gear the RPM is 3000 on the dot. I know this for a fact
cause this is what was in this 1990, and my first 1991 Integra was the
same way. My 1992 Integra ran lower RPM at higher speed and that is
the transmission in this 1990. The 1992 GSR ran higher RPM at lesser
speeds (Example 60mph 3400RPMS) All on stock wheels & tires.
GAS Mileage I have averaged normal daily driving mileage at 30/34 city
highway (City driving, Highway no faster than 80mph for all test).
Conservative driving 32/36 city highway. Aggressive 28/32 city
highway (meaning VTEC when you can) You might get a little better in
a long distance few stop touring travel, but I have not bothered to
run 350miles to measure a more accurate miles per gallon usage.
The clutch has 20k miles at most, and should last your 2-3 yrs easy
depending on hills or if you ride the clutch alot.
NOTE: Driving the B17A Engine in a coupe with short gears, and then
Sedan with long gears, their is a difference. Sedan is slower due
to weight and longer gearing, but the economy performance are worth
it. Normal 1990 1991 Integra Sedan 5 speed get average 27/33 on a 1.8
liter running 130hp/121lbs torque. 1992-1993 Integra Sedan 5 speed 1.8
liters average 28/34 running 140hp/126lbs torque. I included
reference link with technical Spec’s, but I promise you the
transmission ratios on that site are not correct in relation to the
1992 transmission I have.

The Body of the car is fair to moderate. In all honesty, a paint job
would be nice, but it is not required. I want to redo the OEM black
into a OEM black with pearl darkest midnight sea blue and very slight
hint of gold. A good paint job cost around $2000 for all the labor.
The paint is around $500 to $800
The suspension is completely OEM, no modification. The shocks have
been replaced with factory OEM and the cars handling is like new.
Smooth and comfortable but stiffens when terrain calls for it. It is
not sloppy or slushy in its handling. The braking system is great~!
Plus it has ABS. The wheels are 14 inch alloys Acura sedan wheels
from a 1992 (true saw blade style) wrapped with 80% tread Bravadia All
Season tires.
I am in the process of changing out the old Black OEM Interior for the
one that was in my 1992 sedan. That interior is a finer quality soft
cloth in mint condition. The reason why I have not completed it is
cause I am debating on an aftermarket wiring for Stereo, and possibly
installing a car alarm with roll up window, (maybe remote start).
When I do wiring jobs, I do more than toss in wires tape them together
and hide it underneath the carpet. I actually merge and integrate the
aftermarket wiring into the OEM harness to make everything look OEM,
and lessen any possible fatigue from poor workmanship. I have installed
a Red Top Optima 800CCA jell cell side post battery. The original wire
leads to the battery were getting too worn from oxidation, so I decided
on the side mount since they less exposed and connections are superior.
The heater core has been replaced as the old one got clogged. The
interior fan has been rebuilt so that will last 20 yrs. And the A/C
uses the old R12 freaking cold a/c coolant. Much nicer on hot days
than the r13/134. The exhaust has been completely replaced from the
catalytic back. Catalytic convert is the same that I bought the car
with. The exhaust is an aftermarket Bucky’s stainless steal exhaust
2.5 inch piping with pre-resonator (2.5 feet long) OEM replacement
muffler, and basic outlet (no fancy tip). The exhaust sound is well
within legal limits.
There is no stereo at all in the car. I have an Alpine Minidisc (who
steals minidisc??). I have not decided on speakers, Have not located
the EQ or Amps I want.
The car has been in one car driveway accident. The person I purchased
it from has a Chevy construction 4x4, and the wife forgot she parked
the Integra behind the truck and back the rear of the truck partially
onto the front of the integra breaking the headlights, and minor
damage to the hood. I had that fixed easily and put in newer
aftermarket headlights that match the black paint and replaced the
hood with another OEM
I don’t have a camera to take newer photos and the one I have now are
not that clear.
I am not in a hurry to sell this car as it is alot of fun to drive in and its
agility makes is worth while car to keep in this crazy place.
I am currently taking offers and will sell it to the highest offer at my
deciding time to sell.
