I have a 1990 Integra with a 1999 Ls motor . My maual transmission says S1 on it followed by a dash and some numbers. Is it a stock 90’ model? was wondering what kind of transmission, i have. Thanks for the info.
Yes you can. But if the motor was replaced with a 99 motor because the old one was blown, chances are they’d just keep the original tranny to avoid the swap to hydro.
I believe the S1 tranny is the short geared transmission that comes with the 1st gen b16 from japan.
This is a J-spec transmission so, hold on to it. That transmission is very hard to get a hold of by itself. The 99 ls motor of course is rated at about 142hp.
Have you laid into it yet? Does it tach out fast? What mph do the gears hold out to? If it is what I think it is your top speed will only be like 115 but, it will get there fast as hell.
Damn, I didn’t know that. There is a possibility it could be the short geared one and the previous owner was going to use that tranny and the knock sensor equipped B18b to prepare for LSVTEC. Or it could be what you are saying. The only way to tell is to see what it tachs at when you are in 5th gear at about 70mph.

I haven’t ridden my Teg only but the drive home. The reason I posted this was becasue i was planning to swap it for a newer trans since on the drive home the trans jumped on the 1st and 2nd gear but was alright in the other ones. I went with the thought that my clutch is bad but if it was then maybe i couldn’t make the drive home. One more thing, how could i make sure my tranny is a regular tranny and not a vtec model and is it worth it to rebuild even if it is faulty?
If it’s a VTEC tranny, you’ll be revving quite high on the freeway. At 60MPH you’d probably be around 4000RPM compared to around 3000RPM with the LS trannies.
Originally posted by radzer0 u can convert the car to hydrolic for like $400 for a conversion kit… i remember seeing it on a link on here about a month back…
holy shit, $400 for a conversion kit? i went to a boneyard and picked up a pedal assembly, all the plumbing, and master and slave cylinders (used them for cores to get new units at a parts store) and it ended up running me about $175.
that’s after buying new master and slave cylinders too.
the $400 conversion is for the ones of us with alot of money… or lack of g2’s in the junkyard… i havent found 1 yard within 15miles of here with any… and theres about 20 of them… 1 has 2 89’s. but thats it for integras…except a type-r the guy said is basicly just a frame now

so you’re saying that the g2’s in louisiana have a hydraulic transmission? because my parts had to come from a g3–around here, all the g2’s are cable.
g2’s are cable… im just saying… i checked all around for g2’s (looking for the icu) and i couldnt find any
as far as i know none of them have integras… i asked in general if they had any integras and most of them said when they come in they usualy get sold off as a whole because of them having b-motors in them… they got alot of little import shops that have si’s and tegs in the back for parts cars… but there pay out the ass prices
so get on www.car-part.com and find someone who’ll ship to you. i’ve had a lot of luck with a couple yards out of north carolina who have no problem shipping out for VERY cheap rates.
now quit bitching and actually do something about your situation. if you’re trying to make me look stupid, better look again, einstein.
What I meant about jumping is that while shifting gears it would
hesitate then grab hold. And it would only happen in gear 1 and 2. Guy who sold it for me said it might be the clutch. I guess i should just inspect the clutch when i remove the trans an i’ll go from there.
