Would any of you guys know if I were to install a B18B1 engine into a 1990 LS, if the ECU and Tranny would accept the engine perfectly? I just bought a 1997 LS B18B1 engine, but I havent seen on any of the posts or any websites saying if the B18B1 would fit in perfectly. I know the B18A1 and the B18B1 are essentially the same engines (where the B18B1 has a better head, cams, etc.) but there is a difference in OBD, where as the the 1990 LS doesnt have OBD. Anyhow, any help would be greatly appreciated.
just use your existing wiring, distrib., injectors and maybe the alt. too and it should be fine.
Might be a little tricky matching up all the vacuum routing on the intake mani, but it should be worth it to keep the newer mani.
You may also have to do some fancy wiring if the thermo sensor switch is on the thermostat cover like my b20 was.

hey thanks for the reply. i bet people are wondering why i’m not putting in a B16 or a GSR engine…Its because I got a really good deal on the B18B1 (only 40 K miles), only paid 800 cash. Not a bad price. Anyhow, thanks again.
