Hi - I’m new here. My factory 1992 1.8L LS will not downshift upon acceleration and is throwing codes 3 and 7, TPS and MAP. The MAP, which will be very easy to replace, is clearly marked “DENSO 079800-1691 5V PS-22” but the replacement part is listed in numerous locations as “DENSO 079800-4250 5V PS-33”. Does anyone know if these two parts are equivalent? Will the -4250 part work where the original is -1691? Any help appreciated. If the problem is the TPS (which I suspect), it will be a bxxch to replace as the heads are broken off the TPS retaining screws.
The part numbers have most likely changed over time. If you’re getting the part number from a reputable site that uses your specific vehicle to find the part, you’re probably fine. (i.e. try oemacuraparts, acurapartswarehouse, not Amazon)
Thanks for your response. Turns out the problem is not the MAP, and does not appear to be the TPS either as it is not getting 5V input voltage. Signs now pointing to the ECU, and there are issues there - I will likely make a new post for this.
