Hello everybody, I have a 1992 integra RS, and I have installed my 1pc headlights. the fog lights worked fine, untill 10 minutes into them being installed, they blew my 15A fuse… so I rewired them to the parking lights… same out come… I even went so far as to purchase a relay kit… Still nothing, and YES I installed the relay kit correctly, Had power to the switch and everything…
If anyone has had this problem with a 90-93 integra, could you please tell me what you did to remedy it… I am sick of not having fog lights
Okay, well this is how it went. It is a 92 integra RS, I am sure you are familiar with the lights on there… I had my stock lights wired so that my fogs come on when I start the car (if the fog light switch is ON) That worked FINE. THEN, I decided to upgrade to the clear, non projector 1pc housing, and this is where the problem occurs.
I went wire to wire on the fogs just as it was before with the stock set up, and it worked for 10 minutes… Same deal when I re-did it wiring it to the parking lights.
now with the relay, I hooked it all up according to the instructions, and got the LED power light from the switch indicating that it worked. When I flipped it on, nothing but a CLICK…
If I can not figure this out, I am going to go back to stock, because I really enjoy my fog lights…
The reason I ask is because the stock fog lights are powered by a relay, the stock fog light switch only controls the stock fog light relay, if you did the fog light switch rewire, so you can turn on fog lights without having the head lights on, the stock fog light switch still only controls the stock fog light relay, it should be a direct wire up at the lights.
The stock fog light leads from the fog light relay are red/black, they change to red/blue at some point before the fog lights, if they were connected to the one piece fog light pos. leads it should work, unless…
1- The one piece fogs need more then 15A of current.
2- There is a problem with the one piece fog lights.
3- You miswired something, although unlikely as they do work.:hmm:
Try this, using all stock wiring and relay, disconnect one of the fogs and see what happens.94
Thanks much for your reply, Not many replies amongst about 3 forums… So thanks, I figured out what I did wrong with the relay kit. But since that is gone, I went out on a limb here… I took out the 15A fuse, replaced it with a 20, re-wired my fogs, and BAM… they work, with NO problem will post a pic soon. Thanks FCM !!
You should NEVER replace a fuse with a bigger one.
It sounds like the one piece fogs need more current then the stock fogs.
To be safe I would install a relay.
Use all the stock wiring and switch, install the relay after the stock relay, [an easy spot would be at the right side fog lights, connect the stock fog light lead to #85 of relay and ground #86 of relay, [cap of the left side lead]
Run a fused 14ga power lead from the batt. to #30 of relay and run 14ga from #87 of relay to the fog lights.
Although you are still using the stock wiring and switch, the fog lights are on a 14ga wire circuit, 16ga wire has a 15A current capacity 14ga has a 25A current capacity.:whisper:94
