1st Engine Build!! Advice??

id go with rocket cams. seem to be pretty good as a street cam setup…

I’d heard good things about RM, but a friend just had his RM exhaust cam break on him. Bent some valves, had to get a new head…etc luckily the bottom end is OK. Not sure if it’s a 1 in a million or if it’s more common, but if it were me I’d do a LOT of research before putting them in my motor.

Aww man… Unfortunately, this is the 2nd time I have heard of RM’s cams breaking… Not a very good sign… Is it typical for a camshaft to break from a lot of miles and abuse?

No, it’s not. Generally the only way they break is if they are installed wrong or if they are just poor quality from the factory. The ones I saw break were brand new (installed, engine tuned, less than a full day of use on the race track).

Recently finished redoing my interior. Wrapped the door inserts and A/B/C pillars in red vinyl, and wrapped the headliner in black suede. Definitely under estimated this task. If I were to do it again, I would use red suede instead of the red vinyl. But I think it came out well.

Da9swag sorry if you have already answered this but what size are those wheels and what’s the offset? They look sweet man.

No need to apologize. I havent stated the specs yet, but thank you. Which wheels are you talking about? All things considered, IMO perfect offset for DA chassis’. If your not too low, there’s no need to roll the fenders and they sit flush. If you want to roll slammed, roll the fenders and the wheels tuck nicely. People always ask me if I’m runnin spacers but nope.
Currently on 16x8 +20 offset with Bridgestone Potenza RE760’s.

just so you know the ls b18a does not have the same cylinder sleeves as the b20. the max bore on a b18 is 82mm and thats safe.
the max bore on a b20 is 85 and also to is limit.
so no a b20 doesnt already have thin cylinder walls. ive measured them both and they both have the.same thinkness on the.sleeves. one is just bigger.

Also I’m still running stock springs are shocks. I’m in the process of getting some Skunk 2 and I’ll probably lower it about an inch. I’m not to big into the slammed look. Also I’m thinking about getting the skunk 2 camber kit because I thought I would need the camber kit to fit those wheels.

Da6XSi06 - I already know that the sleeves differ between LS’s and b20’s. I believe they’re different metals.
What tool did you use to measure the sleeves? The cylinder walls on a b20 are very thin when you compare it to the walls on LS block. Maybe not all around in circumference, but where the cylinders meet with each other you can clearly tell that the walls are significantly thinner on the b20.

I have both blocks in my garage right now and the only tool I needed to measure them was a naked eye.

Those wheels will fit. But I think you should drop the car a lil more. You are barely gonna even tell its lowered. You definitely do not a camber kit if you choose to stay so moddest on the drop. Your tires will not camber and you will still have 2+" of fender gap.

Finally uploaded my pics from when I did my front brake upgrade a couple weeks ago. I used front brake calipers from a 96 prelude Vtec, 23T brake caliper brackets from a early generation Acura Legend, and brake rotors from a 07 Mini Cooper base model.
Brake pedal feel is about the same, and I have yet to test them out completely.

Da9swag yeah I’ll have to see how low I can really go. I just through those numbers out there. I just can’t dop my car a ton because my head sits super low. I have a ls vtec in my car and the header is super low.

Yeah, I know watchu mean. My header is super dented on the bottom now from being slammed. Still need to find out how much its going to cost me to fix them.

So did you go with the b18c?
I want my interior in my da like that how much that cost in materials and how hard was it to do
