1st gen b16a distributor-what model to get?

I have a 1st gen B16a and I am throwing a code 9. Crank angle sensor. I was told I have to replace my distributor and it will come with a new sensor and the code 9 will go away. First off I brought it to a place, and a acura dealer tried to match it up for a week with no luck, then a honda dealer, no luck. They are good for nothing… Anyway What distributor do I buy to match it up. Obviously not a 90 integra one. Maybe 99 civic SI ? cause of the b16a vtec? please help before i sell tha damn thing, loosing my mind. thanks.

this has been a interesting question for us non-obd people…Basically there is not another distributor you can put on…it has to be another 1gen b16a one…The SI’s are obd2 and the plugs are different…I would just suggest re-building it…I know it is a major pain in the (() but it would save you from buying used distributor…

You can use the 90-91 Integra non-VTEC distributor. The only thing you need to do is cut off the front mount, the one that would interfere with the VTEC solenoid. 2 bolts is plenty to keep the dist. in place.

actually, after you cut off the front leg of the distributor, only the top bolt lines up and not the rear one. I have heard a lot fo people say that the two bolts will line up when really the rear one isn’t close. I have been using the top one only to hold the distributor and it does fine. I have done this now for 20k miles. It holds tight and doesn’t leak any oil from the bottom. The JDM distributors suck ass because if it is not the No. 1 position sensor going bad, its the bearing seizing up. I have been through 3 JDM’s and 1 USDM. It sucks but it is the price you have to pay. Sorry dude.
