1st gen b16a in a 92 Gs

helping out a freind.

i did some research but i still have some questions.

The engine is non obd and the car is obd1.

What do i have to do to get this engine running.

i know i will have to use the stock injectors and the stock distributor but what about the ecu. will a chipped p28 to dohc vtec work?

what wires do i have to add for the vtec. i know the wires for the 1st gen in a non obd car but never did this before.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

go to the teg tips, go to the Engine section, download the engine swap guide. Dan (G2Guru) wrote the guide and its essential reading for anyone planning a swap. He also just recently compiled an engine rebuild guide.

I done it , u need to use your odb-1 injector and distributor from your old b18a odb-1 motor and get a odb-1 sir ecu !

do yourself a favor and the program which will allow you to view excel spreadsheets: http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/xlviewer.aspx

I had to do the same thing, its easy.

also, do a search. in one post dan went a little more into detail about how exactly you go about doing the wiring.

p13 and p08… what are they from, i’m not familiar with those. read the swap guide again, Dan mentions all the ecu’s you can use… and i don’t think p13 or p08 are on it.

you will want a p61, p72(chipped), p28(chipped), or obd1 pr3… i’m pretty sure those are your only options. Oh, if you have the right kind of pr4 you can have it chipped and converted to vtec.
