205/45/17??? for Clearance??

I dropped my 91 Ls 2dr Teg by 2" using Neuspeed Race Springs then I purchased a BW kit for it, I havent installed it yet because im having a dillema here. If I ever install the kit, I wouldnt have enough clearance to drive my car up to the driveway. Im pretty sure it’ll hit the ramp and crack the kit. I have 205/16/45 on all fours and Im wondering if I should get a 205/45/17 to get the clearance desired. I know it would help it a little by giving it a lil more clearance underneat but wouldnt it hit the wheel fender when I make turns? Im thinking of rolling off the rear fender with a bat or a rod for the tires may hit them but I dont know about the front. Should I roll it off more as well or the mentioned tire/rim size wouldnt be a hassle for it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you all Fellow G2iCs

might depend on the offset of your rims…

best thing to do is jus put the questionable pieces on and try it out… SLOWLY of course haha…

what works on one driveway, might not work on another ya know.

I have a 91 LS with neuspeed race springs as well. 205/45-17’s rub the fenders both front and rear.

I had them mounted in 17x7.5 with a +40 offset.

going with 17’s would help a bit more. another sugguestion i have would be to sell the neuspeed race springs and get some adj. sleeve-coilovers like ground controls. this way if you need to raise up the car because the kit is making it too low, you have that option.

How Much am I looking at here? Can anyone refer any good deals for coilovers. Im still using my stock Shocks, Im planning to change it soon to an aftermarket ones. Anyone who knows a good link/place to get a Package like that (with the coil overs and shocks). My first objective was to lessen the wheel well gap, Second is to get my kit installed with a reasonable clearance left. Thanks yall for the responses.

Also, I forgot to mention. What brand would anyone recommend?? Im not looking for a high end, just something that’ll do the job done and has a good quality.

i would recommend Ground Controls, if you order from them directly, you can ask for specific spring rates for both front and rear. i believe it was $299 for a full set. heres their site www.ground-control.com

thanks, Ill check into that

I doubt that 205/45/17’s would clear with a Neuspeed Race drop… I have 205/40/17’s on GC coilovers lowered about 2.25-2.5 in front, and they rub the fender liner when the wheel is at full lock… don’t know what offset or width I’m running, but I tuck the tires in front with no clearance problems, so rolling the fenders wouldn’t make any different… I’d be pretty wary of running the 45 series tires.

If you want to go to 17 inch rims, a regular 40 series tire on a 17" might give you more height than your current setup… check out the tire rack’s site (www.tirerack.com), I think they have charts & calculators that tell you the dimensions of each specific tire & size…

COOL!!! Thanks

You should just get a metal plate put in your driveway to lessen the angle. My neighbor had to do that to get his New 911 up the driveway.

Ya, but It might pose a hazard and I might get end up sued. Its a good Idea though, but I live in a busy neighborhood where a lot of people walk in front of my house.
