I don’t plan on buying them, but I just got to thinking… howcome nobody uses this tire size with Azenis? All I hear about are 205/50/15s, and it would just make sense to me to have the 16’s if possible. Oh yeah, we’re talking autocross here.
i’d say the biggest reason is price. they’re almost 30 bucks more per tire than the 15’s. plus on average, i’d say 16 inch wheels are $100 more or so than 15 inch wheels. another reason might be that 16’s are also, on average, a lot heavier than 15’s. because they’re bigger/heavier it would require more power to turn them over thus slowing down you’re time. i think that sounds right.
I don’t think they’re much heavier than the 15’s because they’re 45 series sidewalls versus a 50 series on the 15’s. Anyone ever used them?
johnny (cspeed) has/had them on his volks (does he still have his volks?). he likes them.
Ben
yup. lots of dudes down here in socal use them for street/competition. :run: but 15’s are better if you can get them on at least a 15x7 wheel. :giggle:
Why are the 15’s better than the 16’s?
i meant 16 inch wheels would be heavier than 15 inch.
most of the time, theyre cheaper and lighter. that goes for tires too. again most of the time
My front brakes require at least a 16" wheel, and on my TE37s, I have the 215/45 Azenis. Great tire, much better than my previous piss poor AVS ES100s. I’ve only had one track day (the very fast road course at Phoenix Intl Raceway), but they stick well and don’t blister like the ES100s…
Cool, where did you get blue azenis?
:giggle:
This is what I have and I like them. I do not autocross but I street race a lot.
and like 2ndgnautoxr said, its dumb how the 16" are more expenside than the 17" … :bang:
Wow… :ghetto: Please delete your post.
- I’m not cool enough to street race
- Those aren’t even Azenis
- The 16’s are not more expensive than 17’s
- Just because you street race doesn’t mean you know shit about autocross.
BTW, JDMDA9 - What lugnuts are those?
Hahahahaha
Lugs are McGard Splinedrives. Very nice nuts…
Yeah I must say so myself…
