Yea… I just bought some SRP pistons from a guy and he claimed they were 81mm … Well, they’re not… They’re 3.209 And I don’t want to bore out my block… So before I go off trying to get my money back (which he already said: “I can’t guarantee” about getting the $$$ back) I was wondering how hard it would be just to sell the pistons back to someone who needs them or trade for some that are stock bore?
well, 3.209 is 81.5mm. which really isn’t that much bigger than stock. To install the pistons in the first place you have to hone the cylinders, and depending on the block you may have even had to bore over to oversized anyway. the cost for boring won’t be much on top of the honing.
how easy they will be to sell to someone is going to depend on what application they are for, and what compression ratio they give.
are they b18a pistons? b16a pistons? b18c pistons?? are they higher compression? lower compression?
I dunno the cylinder and head specs on the b18a but yes, they are b18a1/b1 pistons… here are the numbers:
bore: 3.209
stroke: 3.504
rod length: 5.394
comp height: 1.181
Piston weight: 279
Top ring: 1.0 mm
2nd ring: 1.2 mm
Oil ring: 2.8 mm
Maybe u can tell ME what the comp is cuz I dunno the specs on tha b18a.

aftermarket pistons come in custom sizes. they send you whatever compression ratio pistons you order. so, what compression ratio did you ask for?
Pistons aren’t the only thing that control compression ratio…
In a b18a block with a b16a head and a regular LS head gasket u would have 9.8
Other than that… You’re on your own… That’s why I gave the specs from the box cuz I dunno what head u’ve got or head gasket… Or if you’re stroked, or if… Okay I think that’s all
I’m pretty sure that whatever combo u have, the compression will be the same as stock… That’s what I asked for, but they f*ed up and sent me .020 over pistons… Which is NOT what I asked for… But judging by the numbers I’m getting in the calcs, it has STOCK compression, but no promises on your setup if u changed head or gasket or whatever u may be up to.
