3 year build. time for the wire tuck/bay shave

first i will say i am very dedicated to this car… i have not missed one thing yet… but now its time for the engine bay compartment and motor swap. i am doing a JDM b16a1 with some easy bolt ons for now. a wire tuck. and engine bay shave. and heres for the big part i just started last saterday and i only have 3 weeks for the car to be painted and another month to have the car done.

so i need you guys. everyone that has useful information for me as i have never done this part before. i have done a decent amount of research but there is a lot i am still blury about…

This is what i will be doing to the car:
b16a1 with some easy bolt ons for right now
wire tuck
engine bay shave
inline fuel filter
re-routing brake lines
removed ac, power steering, wiper motor, washer fluid, cruise control,
relocating the fuse box inside the car
hiding the coolant over flow

so far i have taken the motor out… removed all the wireing, all power steering hoses. and removed a few other things. i have welded shut most of the holes accept for the firewall.

so as far as my questions go… hope you can all help me out with this…

  1. there is a breather box that goes on the firewall and connects to the throttle body. what can i do about this thing… where can i put it or can i get something that looks really nice… is it important??

  2. 2 or 3 vacume lines on the top right of the firewall… do i need those for a jdm engine. if so same thing is there something nice looking i can do or can i put it in the cowl area with long vac lines going it it hidden like??

  3. i removed all the lines to the power steering up to the rack. but i heard i have to do other stuff to truely make it manual. something about drilling something out in the rack??

thats all i have question about right now… but there will be more i am sure… but please check back i will be posting plenty of pics on this project…

starting the wire tuck

do you need this thing and is it a catch can???

Do you need the vacume lines?? is there something i can get that looks good?

The top picture is your evap charcoal cannister. The second is the evap purge solenoids. I ditched all of it. You’ll want to run a hose to route that stuff elsewhere, unless you want to smell fuel in the cabin. Also, you’ll want to make sure your state inspection folks won’t trip.

i found a moroso canister… that will work on my honda right?? and extending the hoses wont make a difference in the vacume hoses? how indepth did you go with yours cause i just keep getting more and more ideas but i can really seem to find the info i need

Sorry, I dont know much about the Moroso canister. How much are you talking about extending the vacuum lines? Ehh, personally I dont think you need to do all that. My build is still in progress, but you can check it out if you’d like.

i have pretty much my whole tuck done accept the vacume hoses and the brake lines… i will be posting pics on sunday… but any ideas where to run the vacume lines… i have the thing the vacume lines goto under the cowl. just how to get the hoses there… and where it is safe…

does anyone have a pic of there stock un touched fuse box under the hood.

here are a few pics of the progress i made over the weekend. gotta have this done for next weekend cause i am painting the engine bay and layin out more clear over the whole car on april 25.

Does anyone know what this harness goes to… i found in a pic i took that it went next to the brake master cylnder and pluged into something but i can’t find what harness it goes to for the life of me…

Does any one know what gets plugged into the plug right above the long yellow wire?? it has grease on it and looks like at some time something was plugged into it but i had already done a motor swap so it may have been from last time… anyone have a pic of there fuse box under the hood? or can find out where that harness goes

i am trying to do a tuck now. for the headlights do i have to extend the wires?

Look a little further back on the main wire harness for the plug that goes to the fuse box. It’s not in the same group with the others.

Edit*Hey do you have a better picture of your fuse block? I want to double check my wire connections.

I no this is long over due and a seriously old thread, but definitely one of the nicest DA’s i have seen.
