There’s some old stuff on my DA right now. Probably the original stuff that came out years ago. Mine is starting to peel a bit, so I’m gonna have it redone when I get the tint.
On the Mazda3, got it done. I think 16" or 18" on the hood. It really is good. In Edmonton, they sand the roads like nothing. Someone who was driving it one time (mother), ran it into a work bench. The top of the bench was sitting on the hood. No damage. The film is a little scraped, but it basically buffed out.
It does cost a bit. I think I paid about $140-$180. Thats the hood, mirrors, fenders, and part of the quarter. I wouldn’t bother with the fascia. Thats pretty strong compared to the metal pieces.
we have a 3M clear shield machine cutter at work… im going to see if it has an option for DA’s… installing the 3M shield isnt that hard… we have done it on ferraris, maseratis, lambos, etc…
if the machine cuts its, would anybody be interested in buying???
so the cutting machine doesnt have the setup for DAs… however im going to do my one pieces by hand… all small pieces we do by hand at the shop… so any people interested for one piece 3M cover are welcome… ill do a write up for it hopefully for this weekend
not exactly off topic, but speaking of protecting like the front bumper/fender and hood, wasn’t there a star shield thingy that came out a while back? its like a bra, but it was clear and stretchy a bit. i can’t remember the exact name of it, and but u’d pull it over the like the bottom of the hood, and it would go up like 12-18 inches, and then for the front bumper they had some car specific or kinda like generalish that would be pulled over it… and i think the areas for the grill were cut out or something?
thats pretty much what this is Star sheild uses 3M film they just make the design and install it. Its a clear urethane film that goes on the most prone to rock chip areas but can be put most anywhere u want to protect your paint
