Anyone converted a 90 integra to 4 wheel drive???
umm no not worth the time money and effort whyare u thinking of doing this!
I was just wondering if it was possible… If it wasn’t going to be a complete pain I would do it but it probably will be… thanks much!
yah anythings possible but i dont think its worth it too much money plus if u want awd just get a wrx or something like that!![]()
There was discussion of this before on other boards… the 90-91 EF Civic wagons had 4wd as an option…
But of course, the motor is not B-series, you’d need to fabricate a custom drive shaft, modify the hell out of the undercarriage of your car and god knows what else…
isn’t the CRV 4 wheel drive???
I think so…
I’ve had drunken delusions of a AWD Teg. It would be fun. Some of the CRV’s are 4WD… research that. Finding a 4WD/Stick combo could be difficult, though. I’m going to look into part cost… Let you know. Lata
a guy i know says he’s gonna do an awd crx with the crv drive system
ill let u guys know if and when he completes it
i have thought about this on many occasion this is the conclusion that i have come to
- crv tranny, transfer case axles and rear spindles and hub assembly
- you’ll need to remove the gas tank
- cut the floor out and raise it in the center
- you’ll then need to have the axles and drive shaft custom done
- oh but then the crv transmission may be too big, so even if it will all work, the tranny might not fit
i urge you to try it, but i just dont see that kind of money being spent on an AWD conversion…you’d probably break more shyt than it would be worth…ponder that though, cause i have been for along ass time…if i ever win the lottery i will try it
Jeff
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time also. Here’s my thoughts. It will be a pain in the ass, but as long as you have access to a plasma cutter and a welder it wouldn’t be too bad. The 4WD CRV tranny isn’t that much bigger than the regular Bseries, so that should pose too much of a problem, no more than dropping in an Hseries at least. Axles and driveshaft will have to be custom of course. The mounting brackets will also have to be custom, unless of course you want to jack up your integra about 4 inches.
One day I’ll do it. I just can’t afford to be without the car for that long. WEll that, and i haven’t found a wrecked 4wd CRV yet.
I’d love to see someone do this swap. It would make the G2 absolutely perfect.
Later.
Secret
p.s. I just realized I just said like everything turboteg said, so please feel free to disregard my post. ![]()
I can’t remember where I saw it, but Honda came out with a 4WD Integra Sedan…in Japan (of course). It sat a little higher than normal (obviously to clear the 4WD drivetrain). Oh, it was the DC chassis Integ, by the way. I remember reading about it on some Japanese website. I thought it might have been some kind of hoax, but quite a few people confirmed its existence. I doubt Honda made many of those things, but I could be wrong. Somebody correct me if this info is incorrect. In the meantime, I’ll try looking for that link…
Thanks,
Zero
there is also a 4 wheel drive Civic. its a 1-3 generation. its a hatchback with an extra window, but too small to be a wagon. I saw it on my walk back to work and started thinking about the possibility of 4wd. the crv would proably be a better pick because the parts a everywhere now. I will also want to try this if i came into a TON of money. I would also bolt up the ITR motor. what hoot. 200hp AWD G2 Integra. thats a monster.
The 4wd would probably eat a lot of that 200 Hp.
Ben
Manson: the civic you are talking about is the 1984 honda civic WAG-O-VAN…and if im not mistaken it made like 80 hp and is a d series motor
Jeff
Hey secret no big deal, i am just glad to see that there is somebody else in this world on the same wavelength as me:D
I didn’t get to find that darn link with that 4WD Integ, but I did find this:
http://www.lycos.ru/webguides/auto/catalog/index.html?mark=Honda&model=Integra+16+4WD
Wierd how the article refers to that 4DR Civic as an Integra…
Anyways, as it turns out that pic is of a Civic Ferio EXi, which did come in a 4WD configuration, according to a couple of websites I found…here’s one of them:
http://www.geocities.com/gkurka2001/VTEC/VTEC.htm
Look all the way down to the bottom and it’ll mention the EXi.
Here’s another one:

All in all, I dunno if it would be worth all the trouble converting our Tegs into 4WD. It’ll just add weight to an already “heavy” car. Just my opinion…
oh man, i totally forgot about the 4wd JDm tegs. yeah, in 94-95 honda made a 4wd teg in japan. it was a sedan. i think it came with a d-series motor though. but i’m not sure. i’ve never been able to find any good information on it. if anyone can PLEASE let me know, i’d love to know if this AWD teg would be possible.
thanks.

Isn’t the CR-V based on an Accord frame??
also
keep in mind…
that those 4wd wagons and CRV’s have a rear bias of only around 10%. IMO, that is not even worth messing with. Someone built one a while back making some crazy power, and first pass at the track spit out drivetrain parts all over the ground. That setup is not meant to have to deal with gops of power, and when you apply that kind of power to it, things tend to break pretty quickly.
what about the awd prelude or was it all steering that i am thinking of…anyway i think it like a 90 91 wasn’t it?
