5W-30 doesn't work for my car...

how come 5w-30 motor oil doesn’t work for my car. after putting it on the car doesn’t even wanna go. it feels like it so heavy. feels like theres no power. few weeks ago someone say its ok using 5w-30 motor oil then i tried it and it’s not working for me. then i went back to 10w-30 and it’s working fine now. can somebody tell me why?

where they the same brand??

I’m using 5W30 in my car… maybe I should try 10w30 to see…

If anything, it should be the opposite.

Was the 10w30 synthetic? and the 5w30 not?
That’s really weird.

if the two oils were the same brand and both synthetic it shouldnt have caused a problem. I have ran both types of mobil one in my car (5w-30 & 10w-30) and there doesnt seem to be much of a difference in my opinion.

I’ve used 0W-30 Mobil1 in my old Integra and it worked fine…

5w-30 is lighter(thinner) then 10w-30

the only reason the car would work better with 10w-30 is if you motor is dying, the seals are going/gone. the thicker oil would be harder to leak out where the 5w-30 will leak out with more ease.

try a heaver weight oil for one oil change, You should feel more power, BUT if you do this make sure you let the motor idle for a few minutes before driving so the oil can get to the top of the motor

the 10w30 was not synthetic.

5w30 i believe is for newer and lower mileage cars. usually a perfect weight is 10w30 motor oil for b18a motors.

thanx a lot g2ls, you gave me a short simple answer which makes me understand well.

helms manual says 5w30 for g2 integras except the 92/93 GS-R which is supposed to have 10w30

im guessing the helms recommend that because at the time the manual came out, the vehicel was consider new and low mileage. but now 10-13 years old, heavier weight will be consider… j/k about the helms manual guess. might even be true!

5w and 10w shouldn’t make much of a different, i just changed mine from 5w to 10w since the last oil change, i just feel some power gain, but that’s just because i installed my intake hehe…

make sure your filter is securely fit in, and check your oil level… is 3.5l for our teg, unlike most car is 4l.

mine dont take 3.5q, mine takes 4q…

Hey codenamezero, where you from in QC?
