7 years of owning this gem..From 08- Present stats: Enjoy!

Thought I’d give a little back round of my DA9 from the day we bought it back in 08 to now…Reason for my username was I had 1990 Black Db1… it was salvaged due to theft, but it had seen better days before I bought it. So I will start of with a few pics of my DB1… Didnt have pics the day I picked it up, but paint was a mess, suspension was toast… Picked up some Tien Basics for Rexone and some other goodies…

Crappy cell phone pic when I had the Gales LS636s

So back in 2008, I ended up selling the DB due to the electrical issues it was having, Put it back to bone stock except for the fat 5’s… Sold the DB in the morning and literally bought this later that day for the same price I sold the DB for!

The day i Picked up the DA9… 93gs with 148k miles…all original…

Decided to slap the Gales on… Unfortunately center caps were missing…

About a year later, I ended up selling the Gales and picked up some 16 Gun Metal Black Racing Phantoms… and installed the 1 pieces.

Pretty much car ran like this for about 2 or 3 years…No mods done…just a simple DD…

2012ish…Sold the Black Phantoms and picked up some fat 5’s…

Fast forward to 2015… with 260k miles on the odo… the motor was burning oil…about a 1/2 qt every 500 miles…smog was coming up July of this year… Passed with ok numbers…but still passed… Decided to give it some TLC…so a few days after smog, found B18c motor at www.lajdm.com with 45k miles on it… gave a good price and decided to jump the gun installed… my goal was to have it all OBD1 compliant for when it gets BAR’d.

Sorry dont have pics while work was being done… but came complete with motor, tranny and USDM P72 ECU… and decided to purchase BNIB Skunk 2 IM…

The shop happend to have 5 zigen exhaust that was originally for an EF…picked it up practically for free and took it to a muffler shop to have the pipes extended… sounds to subtle…

The original paint was showing its age…tried Polshing, Waxing, etc…just wouldn’t give that shine…so I decided to do some bodywork myself to take out light dings and dents here and there… & have it painted Orignal white…NH538

And how it sits as of today…

And for kicks… DB7 and DA9

Thanks Guys… comments welcome!

Looks clean, great trade up from that DB1 to the DA! So you sprayed the car yourself? If so, that’s awesome, I’ve always wanted to try it but didn’t want to use my own car as a guinea pig project as I know I’m too picky and would be pissed at even small screw ups.

 Looking good!

That paint turned out awesome. Car looks brand new. Great work.

No I did not paint the car myself…its called MAACO…haha cost little but thanks!

Looks really sharp for a maaco job! Did you prep the whole car before you took it in?
Care to share which package you chose?

Nice work!

Oh yeah, Maaco. I had them spray a rallyx car I built with my dad and brother. We did all the body work and just had them spray it. The finish turned out pretty good, unfortunately it wasn’t all that durable - of course we were beating on the car a bit more than a normal street car so that probably plays a part in that.

Chose the Ambassador package. …and yeah pretty much prepped the car myself…had minor dings on the drivers door, replaced the drivers side fender prior to being painted. Overall, turned out pretty good for the price…

Cool story bro.

(No sarcasm intended)

Car looks great! Very simple and clean. Subtle yet tastefully modded. I dig your old db1 too, sucks it had wiring issues.
