Think a 8" sub can fit in the rear speaker holes after cutting a bit and making a few things to hold it in place? is the actual spot tehre big enough for an 8" sub? if so, I wanan put 2 8" subs in there and jsut run my component up front.
Anything can be done, it’s just a matter of how much work you’re willing to do. So yes, i’m sure it could fit back there but it might require some modifications. Do you have a sedan or coupe?

Hatch I am gonna measure stuff out today see how close it can get… I’d just rather a clean small stereo instead of even 2 8’s in a sub box dumped in the trunk floor… and I dun wanna go thru the trouble of a wheel well install for something as small as 8’s
hmmmmm…What happened to the 4-15" Volfenhaags Tom??? cough RevScenecough:roll:

actually they were 12’s hehe.
but anyways. TTT
I think it can totally be done, and would look great. I’d recommend finding a couple of spare pieces from a wrecker that you could play around with, so you don’t mess up your own interior.
The area around the stock 6.5" will have to be cut away completely, so in order to accomodate the magnet depth and speaker width, you might have to build up around the stock speaker pod. Shouldn’t be too much work with some MDF and fibreglass. If you are using a free-air sub, it’ll save you a lot of hassle, or you could do a crazy enclosure that hides underneath the driver.
Or if you wanted to avoid the trouble, you could just mount the 8’s on the rear deck that is removable, and build up a small enclosure under each sub that is screwed into the deck.

That’s a great idea Essence, i think that would be quite a bit easier and look just as clean. Might wanna look into doing that, especially if the subs need enclosures and aren’t free-air.
Yeah that’s what it looks like will be my plan. mount them on the rear deck. Now… gotta find a new rear cargo cover cause I dun wanna mess up and lose my original. anyone got one? hahaha
Wait a second!.. the only reason why I wanted 8" subs was cause it’s the only thing clsoe to be able to fit into the rear speaker spots with a bit of modding, if I were to put them on the cargo cover I may as well go 10’s. lol, shoot, I hafta stick with 2 8’s. cause that was my original plan and still wanna carry it out. I have these lined up for me so far.

Before you start cutting anything up – if you remove the baskets under the grille, an 8" driver can and will drop right in. If you run it with moderate amounts of power but nothing too scary, you may not even need to brace anything. Personally, I would build a small enclosure in there but just so you know, many have put 8s back there and they will fit right in there right as rain…
Let us know how you make out!

I think it’d be a coo idea to try the 8’s in the rear spots, but who makes good 8’s??
I can see several problems. First of all is enclosure size. The speakers might not sound very good when you are done because the size is wrong. Second, you would have to fill all the holes inside it so there actually IS an enclosure so you can get some decent output. Third, you will want to reinforce the plastic so it doesn’t flex and cause problems. And even if you do plan for specific enclosure and build up the sides some so they don’t flex, you still might be disappointed in the output of those speakers. I wouldn’t expect very deep bass, and only moderate output from them. They are SQ drivers only, and are notorious for lacking in output, and that’s for their subs.
If you plan on going through all that trouble, why not go one step further and build an enclosure underneath your glove box. Then you at least will have the benifit of bass up front, which is a big plus.
