I’m header shopping… are there any headers that don’t bolt up right, leak, or are crap that should be avoided?
Looking at Airmass, Pacesetter $$, Neuspeed, DC, (price is also of concern)

from what i have heard pacesetter headers and anything else they make is crap. Neuspeed would probley be the best for the price range
I just had my chikara(mild steal torque step) delivered on 2/1. Hope to have it in soon. It’s made by Hedman so the quality should be reasonable. Nice thick flanges, welds are ok too. Thick gaskets should last. Hardware, and extension for the o2 sensor wire included.
$200 shipped 2nd day.
I’d recommend DC Sports, Neuspeed, or GReddy.

I would have to second all of those…I have DC Sports and love them, even without a catback i noticed quite a difference, and if you already have a catback you should feel a big difference.
Pacesetter(header and catback both) is totally worth it. It’s ugly as hell but it’s fully functional and that’s what’s valuable to me.
Things you should know about the pacesetter system:
Well I personally would never buy a Pacesetter product for my car. I’ve seen a chart where their header LOST power over the stock manifold.
I’d recommend DC Sports, Neuspeed, or GReddy
Yeah these will definetly work very well, but as for the pacesetter and chikara hedman header they SUCK bad do not buy these, i can go ten minutes from where i live and see these pacesetter products made and i would never buy these but the chikara hedman header i made the mistake about 4 years ago and bought one before i knew better lets just say i had it for maybe 2-3 hours before i ripped it off my car going down the street, lets just say i had one of their first headers and it hung 5 inches off my oil pan, lets say my car and i were not happy… i hope this little horry story helps with your making decision…
header
I would agree that the pacesetter header blows, and that there catback isnt great compaired to others, but still good for the price. Although for the cash I would definetly reccomend the chikara torque step header. I dont know where hedman got off selling it for under 200 bucks. Props to them cuz its a sweet header. My friend owns one and it helps on torque alot, although isn’t as pretty as a dc sports. Hpracing.com has a header that added 8hp’s to the wheels on a 96 dx honda civic according to import tuners power pages. That header is stainless or ceramic and like 200 $ from nopi’s online store at http://www.nopi.com. If you have the 300$ then I’d go neuspeed though, mostly because of the name to back it up and the fact that its warenteed, and dyno proven. I have a DC sports ceramic and i think its nice but couldnt have gotten just the same or better froma cheaper header. IMO. hope I helped, good luck
P.S. The neuspeeds boast that they are carb excempt but i just recently read a post that they currently are not, and that nuespeed is waiting for carb to excempt them.
Im going DC CC 4-2-1 for my 90 teg whats the diffrence between the 1 and 2 pieace.

Check your thread on the Product Review board…
what about OBX? probably the biggest piece of crap, but the stainless steal ones are cheap as hell!

I hope you didn’t burn yourself :argh: taking them off while you were driving down the street!! j/k
Dude maybe that was the first set, I’m not gonna be a dick or anything, but I’ve had mine (torque stepped) for 2 years and they are awesome. I can’t compare them to DC or any other header since its the only one I’ve put on my car, but the butt dyno noticed quite a difference. I believe BR has the cc Chikara’s and was quite happy with them as well. I’d put them (the cc’s as far as quality and as for performance the painted torque stepped headers rock as well!!) up there with DC and Neuspeed, Headman has been in the game longer than the others. They put out quality products (not just Domestic) Just my opinion of course.

Yep, I am very happy with mine. They are great headers for an LS engine. They add a lot to the low end of the powerband, where most LS’s spend all of their time.
I wouldnt recommend them for a high revving motor like the vtec’s though. The runners are a little on the small side for something like that where all of your power is up top.
Here is a pic of them…

anyone know a website were you can order those from?
Try Summit

Allright, so BR, how low do they hang from the oilpan-do you think that the newer ones have any danger of getting knocked on bumps?

They hang just lower than the crossmember so I do have a dent on it, but I am also pretty damn low too. Most headers will get dents if your lowered too much, no biggie though.

the good ole’ waffle!! I have a very small dent in mine.

I order most of my stuff from www.autodynamic.com the are very good when it comes to shipping and things like that. Im probably depending on prices I get from local shops getting them from that website.
