90-91 vs 92-93 Clutch (Splines and Shaft Diameter)

The topic of 90-91 va 92-93 clutches has just about been covered to death, I know. However there is almost always a debate about whether the difference is input shaft spline count, input shaft diameter, or both. There are some who say one and some who say the other but I have yet to see any more proof than what someone “thinks”.

I was looking for clutches and some of the EXEDY clutch specs are listed on the No Limit Motorsports website: http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/exedy/organic.html

In case that link ever dies…

90-91 Integras
Spline / Teeth = 24
Major Diameter = 25mm

92-93 Integras
Spline / Teeth = 24
Major Diameter = 26mm

This just confirms (assuming their site is correct) what most of us have thought: spline count is the same, it’s only the input shaft diameter which changes. I’ve just never remembered to do the counting when I’ve had access to the parts…

thanks for the info…

what does major diameter mean?

ma⋅jor
–adjective
7. greater in size, extent, or importance

di⋅am⋅e⋅ter
–noun
3. the width of a circular or cylindrical object.

Also, the 92-93 shaft is a tiny bit longer. Enough that you are not suppose to rest the transmission on the bellhousing side since the shaft protrudes beyond that face.

Just to add on. 92-93 clutches also work for 94-01.

Only the throw-out bearing is different between cable and hydro.
