90/91 vs 92/93 stock exhaust

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 2?

Here is my situation. I have a 91ls that I am buying from my friend who took off the exhaust from it and put it on his 93ls turbo project. He discovered that it didnt bolt up directly on his 93 and had to add some tubing to make it work. Because funds are low right now, I cant afford a full exhaust system, so the easiest thing to do is replace with stock. On the 91ls, I have dc sports headers and thats it. There is nothing from that point back. I have a stock muffler, so I just need that is all between the muffler and header. What makes the 90/91 vs 92/93 different?

Any help would be appreciated.

as far as i’m aware, the only differences between 90/91-92/93 are the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. 92/93 being a longer 3 stage cat with the manifold making up for that length…i believe

2.25 inches to be exact IIRC. I agree with welfare, I beliver the differecne is in the cat. try swaping and see if that works.

I appreciate the input. If anyone else has anymore to comment I would like to hear as well.

Anyone else have input?

I got something to add. Is the O2 positioning dependent on year, engine, or OBD type? Just asking to make sure cause my 92 DB2 O2 is on DP and on my 91 DA9 its on the mani. Thanks

yes guys its just the cat mainly its cause as cars get newer the get more restrictions from insurance institute of saftey, and other government affiliates…thats what cool about hondas they are all the same but so differant

yes. obd1 will have the o2 sensor on the collector, just before the cat. whereas non obd will have it in one of the runners, just off the manifold.
the obd1 system is much more efficient, as the o2 sensor heats up much faster at the collector and therefore go into closed loop much sooner

this is the best info i have found, it helped me out when i was screaming at my car for being a 90 in stead of 93.

did you end up using the exhaust ,or did you switch it out to a 90/91 specific exhaust?

I found someone with a full 90/91 stock exhaust with from header to muffler that I am going to buy from. Thanks for inquiring.
