90 DA9 Brake Master cylinder replacement

I know replacement must run with ABS.
What size is the stock mc?
Can I put an ITR in or did it come with one?

I guess the main question is…any recommendations on a replacement?
I don’t race but do like good street performance.

Thanks,
G

The non-abs master cylinder is 15/16". The ABS master cylinder is 1". This holds true for the G3 integras as well and the ITR has a 1". I would just replace it with what you have now. If you have the 15/16" MC there’s not really any big benefit to upgrading tot he 1" unless you plan on running larger brakes in the future. And even then lots of people run the 15/16" MC with larger calipers and don’t have any problems. I do think it’s possible to put an ITR MC on your car, I think I’ve seen people do it when they do the ABS removal. There’s no performance benefit to that one vs the 1" MC that came on ABS G2’s.

…AND ONE FOLLOW-UP: If I understand… my 1990 Acura Integra DA9 (w ABS) came stock with a 1" mc. That’s good.

Q: So, if I replace with a stock mc and then want to upgrade the rotors and calipers just a notch…what would you recommend?

Yes, you currently have the 1" MC. As for brake upgrades, for most of us a good set of pads is really all you need. I’ve used Axxis Ultimates as well as HPS and HP+ and all were good pads. The HPS is a good street pad, the Ultimates and HP+ are a bit more aggressive but work fine on the street - they do dust a lot though.

Most of us don’t actually need larger brakes, although we often think we do. Generally you don’t need larger brakes unless you’re going to be tracking the car or if you have a lot of power under the hood. If you’re going to upgrade then the Legend/ITR caliper is a good place to start or even an S2000 caliper. If you do some searching online you’ll find that these upgrades are well documented.
