Today, I deicde to install the chipped Mugen PR4 redline to 9k ecu I got from the owner who I bought the car from. I didn’t redline it to 9k only redline to factory redline. I turned on the car and it gave a rough idle like those toda vtec killer cam. I test drove it then for 15 to 20 min, then it gave the engine check light, plus it kind of had the lack of power around 2.5k and then when I got to my apartment parking lot, my headlight start to flick, die and back on, then when I park the car the it suddenly die on me, and when I turn it back on the engine check light was gone. Any ideas?? Bad alteratnor or wires??

Mugen didn’t make chips for our cars. What you have is a knock off ebay chip. Just take it out and put your old one back in before it does damage. Mine worked for a while then began blowing distributors left, right and center…Not to mention burning fuel like there was no tomorrow. Trust me, it was a nightmare you do not want. It cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
If you want your ECU chipped, use your virgin pr4 and get someone who knows what they are doing to burn a basemap for your current setup, and install the chip.

OP, sounds like the car is stock? So why put another ECU in it that wasn’t (TUNED) for the car? Put you’re old stock one back in tell you got a reason to tune it.

OP. Is your car stock? You should never run a chipped ECU that wasn’t tuned to the car. Its like running 10+lbs of boost and not tuning it then asking why the car is running like crap. Just run the stock ECU.
