when tranny (auto) is cold it takes several minutes to upshift. i can be hitting 4k rpm and only be going 40mph. what is the problem. should i just put in new dexxron II ATF fluid? that is what the manual recommends

ac doesn’t work. is this expensive?

i have a gas smell. no leaks. should i change the fuel filter?
hopefully these will help:

the transmission fluid is probably getting sticky. you should change it. honda transmissions are “required” to have fluid changes at 25000 miles. i do mine every 15000, because when a mechanic drains and refills (no filter to change), only half comes out. so, you have to do 2 changes before it is clean. it is actually very simple to change, if you have a jack. on the fluid type, i would stick with what honda recommends, they know what it should be. dealerships charge less then $50 for this work.

yes it is very expensive, they have to lift out one side of the engine to do it, look at spending around $1500. thats what it was on my buddies 93’ civic si. but that was a new honda compressor.

try the fuel filter first, that is usually the place it would happen. get under the car and check thoroughly, with a flashlight, the whole tank and all the fuel lines. usually a mechanic can check it out for you. just tell them that you can do the work, but need their lift to look under…it works for me!!!
i hope that helps, when i first bought my 90 teg, i had the tranny problem. the old lady didn’t do all the maintenance, and 6 months later it hit me, hard.
my tranny did the samething had to get it rebuilt and it fixed the problem
check the connections of your fuel line to the rail/ filter and check your gas cap. Should let off pressure when you open it.
My A/C compressor has a stripped pulley bolt and the dealer quoted me $270 to replace the pulley. I’d have the system checked out and get an estimate. It could be less than you think. HTH
