90 LS Update

Haven’t been posting much but thought I’d share a couple updates.

I’ve owned this DA for a while now and have had pretty good luck with it. Finally, it’s started having a couple electrical and fuel shenanigans, so I’ve been battling that over the course of this year. Been chasing grounding issues and fuel priming issues. Long story short is I went as far as replacing the whole tank and fuel sending unit only to find out its probably my ECU going bad (lol). Finally got out to the track this year and found out aftermarket tanks don’t have great baffling like oem ones do so with half a tank of gas the car bogs when heavily braking or turning, making rev matches difficult. With the mileage and quarter oanel rust, I’m likely parting out the car this fall and transferring the majority of the goodies into another 1990 I picked up that already has had body work and paint completed. This car has been a great test mule. It gave me the opportunity to really do a deep dive into hondas mechanically. Did my first swap, rebuilt my first trans etc on this car so hopefully I can take this knowledge and build the next one better and painlessly (yeah right…lol)

Cool stuff! I’m actually surprised the aftermarket gas tanks don’t have great baffling because in looking at them a few years ago, it seemed like they were all (not that there were many to choose) touting the “above average” baffling.

In your rebuild, tell me if you come across anything that you think could be remade using 3D printing. I can add that to my “to scan” list.

Yes I was so disappointed, it’s the spectra premium tank and it appeared to be pretty good quality. The other issue is the replacement pump might have had a smaller fuel sock than the original, I can’t recall at the moment.

And sure thing, I did grab the cowl deflector and it arrived already but I haven’t had the chance to use it as of yet!

I had the same problem with the fuel issue and tried the ECU route before doing the fuel pump. (Maybe we already spoke in a different thread). Can you put the OEM one back in?
