how much lighter are the 92-93 doors compared to the 90-91’s? is it a worthy swap to do to reduce weight?
i’m pretty sure they are the exact same. a common misconception with car enthusiasts, newer doesn’t always mean better/lighter. not trying to be an A-hole. just clarifying. but yeah, i’m pretty sure they are EXACTLY the same. no need to swap anything. the only difference in the weight of the door is if you have power accessories like power windows and door locks (though i BELIEVE power door locks were standard ALL across the integra line RS all the way to GS-R’s) but if you want lighter doors, i guess you could swap out the power windows (IF you have them) for manual windows. and then go “Racecar” and remove the door panels altogether. and while your at it, might as well remove half your interior. but thats if you seriously want to shed that extra 10-15 lbs (about a total of 35-40lbs if you completely remove the rear seat as well)
personally, i wouldn’t worry about it. if you want to lose the weight to go faster, i say, either build the motor to MAKE the car faster, or put yourself on a diet to shed some pounds :giggle:
even if you completely gutted the interior etc. only left your seat and what was necessary to drive the car (wheel, shifter etc.) you’d still only go from about a 15.6 (average time for relatively stock LS tegs) to about 15.4 (at BEST) whereas a few bolt-ons, a good tune, stickier tires, and good driving can get you there. ALL while having the comfort of a full interior. or if you want relatively cheap speed, i’d say go nitrous. as long as you don’t go doing 100 shots into a stock motor ALL the time, you’ll be alright. a 30-50 dry shot will get you into low 15’s easily, if not better.
but then again, i have no real idea as to why you wanted to swap doors for being lighter anyway. not sure if you wanted it for speed, or fuel economy etc. maybe a bit of 411 would be helpful.
power windows are more common than power locks
you know i worked at a auto shop for year an a half and all the cars with powerd window have powerd locks just not the tegs why is that
Power door locks were not standard on the RS and LS. They were only standard on the GS and GS-R.
they cant be too standard for the GS cuz i have a GS and no power locks.
they are the same. Ive picked up both of them, and they are damn heavy.
Get JDM doors if u want lighter. in Japan they dont have all of the safety standards and there is less bracing in all of the frame and major body panels.
^ not totally sure if that is 100% true, but the JDM bumper support is a lot lighter as well as the JDM cars. Im not sure if the doors are like that.
and no… 90-93 integras never came with power locks.
my old GS and my friends GSR does not have them.
u can however put civic locks in them.
90-93 integras DID come with power locks… what are you talking about? My 92 LS had them, but my 90 GS does not. It’s all about the options the person chose and what not.
Ahahahahahahhahaha Thread Of The Fucking Decade

if you aren’t sure, don’t post. :ban:
Thats according to the list of options as noted in the line books. My 1990 GS had power windows and MANUAL locks. Infact all of my integras have had manual locks. I have seen 90 gs’s with power locks and atleast 2 1990 RS 4 doors with factory power locks.
Again affirming the fact that reguardless of trim level (and excluding the gs-r) LITERALLY any option could be added to ANY trim level of integra.
Once again you have no fucking clue what you’re talking about.
yea my rs doesnt have power locks, i wish it did, my 87 teg did and power windows, dang too bad it was a pile
all i have to say is gut your doors just to the sheet metal if you want the performance, probably not to safe. oh oh i got an idea make fiberglass or carbon fiber doors or just the outside door panel that’ll be cool since, theres no top part like normal doors. i hate geting in any other car know i almost hit my head on the top metal part above the glass
Wrong! Please try again!

To answer your question: Yes, the 92-93 doors are lighter. How do I know? I had to replace one of mine (off of my 90 teg) and received a 92 door. I stripped both doors down to nothing (the glass in the new door was broken inside of it, so it needed a vacuuming) and with no wiring harnesses, latches, window regulators (both doors are power window doors), or ANYTHING in them the 92 door is lighter. The reason for this is because they use a tubular safety bar inside the door instead of a multiple-crimped piece of steel (it looks a little like an I-beam inside the door). Not only does it function better as a safety device, it also cuts (and I’m guestimating here) about 15 lbs off of the weight of the door. I should have weighed each one when I had them naked and off of the car…I would like to know exactly how much I saved and how much more I could save by going with a 92 door on the passenger side.
in regards to not having power locks, my car has them.
ok i never knew they had power locks. After owning 4 DA’s i have never seen them.
i did put civic locks in one tho.
its all good
