92-93 Gsr Production Numbers

Hey guys, picked up 92 #602 close to central N.C. like 2 months ago. She does have a lot of rust but looking to take care of all the bad stuff, little by little and bring her back.

Hello everyone, I have a 1992 GS-R, #067, Aztec Green Pearl. Purchased new in March of '92. It was my daily driver for 19 years and it’s still going after 435,000 km. I just can’t seem to let it go.

Great looking, well loved car you have there. It’s a shame the body is getting a bit rusty. With rust on the quarter and hatch like that I was surprised there seems to be none in the engine bay. If you plan on keeping here longer you should see about fixing that rust and helping her stay healthy for years to come.

Lots of potential there! Looking forward to seeing how the restoration project goes!

An original owner - that’s awesome! Great looking GS-R.

edit, dup post

Curious to see how many are left out there, I currently own two '92 DB2 GS-R in Vancouver B.C. Both are in storage until I have the time to dedicate to them as they’re both projects to an extent, due to having been parked for an extended period of time prior my ownership. #0284 is my Flint Black DB2 currently sitting at 336K KM, all original with the exception of a few tasteful modifications that i will be reverting within time. #0489 is my Milano Red DB2, currently sitting at 217K KM with the drive-train out of a '92 LS :slightly_frowning_face: Despite appearing to be in better shape, #0489 has quite the history involving bodywork, a once replaced cluster, a rebuilt title, and sometime around 2015 it was even issued a B.C. re-assigned vin. The majority of which will be corrected.

Anyone want to let me take one of these fine automobiles off their hands?

I’ll suggest eBay and BringATrailer email notifications.

These prices are shocking.

Yeah… It looks like there’s no in-between after looking around, people are either selling modified GSR’s that no longer have B17’s for like 5k, or they’re asking 30k for a mostly original one. Oof.

It’s really interesting how the car values are going. I’m hearing that there’s an “end of an era” happening where simpler naturally aspirated engines are going away, and everything is going either turbo or electric to try to squeeze as much power and efficiency as possible. At the same time, younger consumers just aren’t as interested in the power aspect and prefer entertainment/safety tech.

I guess those that want to hang onto the old times are willing to pay more.

It’s hard to collect something that can be mechanically totalled in less than 10 years because of a small plastic part in the engine that would cost more than the car to fix, yet the rest of the car is perfect. That is the trend in all cars I would say in the last 10 years.

A long time family mechanic is also suggesting to NOT purchase cars that have turbo engines. He states he’s getting a lot of these cars coming in for engine replacements because the manufacturers are not building the engines strong enough to withstand the increased pressure. I’m finding this hard to believe – I would think manufacturers would be testing the hell out of these engines - or maybe they are just testing them until the warranty expires for planned obsolescence? That’s sad.

Throw-away society man…
