Everything seems to line up fine. Bumper lines up with headlights and fenders but the only thing out of place is the hood. The hood protrudes in front. I have tried readjusting the hood and latch. I’ve taken apart the front bumper thinking the car might have been in a car accident but i don’t see any indications.
I’ve searched this forum but have not found a clear answer. I think it might have a 90-91 front hood, because the captiva blue color looks a little different than the rest of the car. Would a 90 hood on a 92 protrude like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This ain’t my car but I have the same exact problem
There is supposed to be a metal trim around the front edge of the hood. Nonethless, the gap still looks too large to fit just the metal trim. My hood looks the same as yours, and i know for a fact that the reason why there’s a gap (in spite of the trim) is that I once bumped the car in front of me. No damage to both vehicles. Except for scratches on the bumper, you wouldn’t know that the car was in a minor collision. Re-painting the bumper would hide everything.
Well, I guess i could pull the front support a little to see if it gets better. Its kind of strange that everything lines up right except for the hood.
but it was in a more severe front end that pushed in the bumper and bent the radiator support.
right front fender looks like it came off a different model/year and the corner lights dont fit right, missing the liner in the wheel well.
but you wouldnt know it by looking at it.
i didnt even notice till like 2 weeks after i bought the car.
if i had the stuff to do it here, id replace the radiator support and try to get a better matching fender.
if i still have the car when i move back to wisconsin i will probably do it myself, bang out some dents, and sandblast/prime/paint it black. (got the stuff up there to do all sorts of body & engine work.)
it was repainted once before, original color is that blueish grey, forget the name.
it was done shitty to begin with, and on top of that the layers of black are seperating in some spots.
so whatever i do with a blaster, compressor & sprayer will probably still be better looking.
daoshao you need the lower the hood stoppers on the radiator support so the hood will come down to the headlights a little more. turn them to the right and it will lower the hood down. losen up the four bolts and push the hood back than tighten it back down. also the hood is supposed to stick out from teh bumper a little bit because the bumper is cut out for the hood the sit a little in front of it.
