'93 DA9 Hesitates to start/stay running, smells of gas

Edit: Another problem! (Updated 11-3-'12)

The car dies down while stopped (like at a light), especially at night.
The Idle has been adjusted several times, but doesn’t help with this.
It’s so bad, that when I come to a stop and hit the brakes, the entire radio will cut OFF over and over, the lights on the dash get very dark, and the headlights (5k HID) dim slightly.
Also, I drove the car for work (I unlock cars, do roadside asst., on-call, so a lot of stopping, parking and cutting off and on.)… the car will be running for a hour or three straight… I cut it off to do something… Try to restart it, and it’s COMPLETELY dead. Not a single bit of electricity to be found.
Good thing I carry a jumpbox.
TO try and fix the problem, I’ve bought a new battery AND alternator, and even had Advance Auto do a test on everything, which came back perfectly fine.
The dying down is happening even while the car idles at/around 800 RPM.

I need help, guys.

Edit: I posted in this section, simply being that there may be mods done to the car that I am not aware of. Previous owners seemed to gave no damn idea what the were doing. Varies harness cut and rewired, parts missing and replaced…

Hey folks, I need some help.

I’m posting in here because while the B18A1 in the car is pretty much stock (as far as we know), though it does have a full exhaust, and I was told (in person) by another G2IC member that the intake manifold is actually from a B20 motor.

So:

The car has had it’s issues in the past 2 years or so.

But last night… car was running perfectly fine. Actually, it’s been doing better in the past week or two than it’s been the entire time we’ve had it.

-This morning, I get a service call at work, so I went out, and tried to start it.

-All 3 times, it would turn over and immediately die.

-The 4th time, it started, and I gave it a little gas. The car stayed going, but at around 1,500k RPMs. I thought it was kinda cold, so I tried to let it warm up.

-I sat there for about 5 mins, no change.

-I tried to take it around the block, figured the throttle was sticking. Gave it gas to go, and there was a 1-2 second delay in the throttle.

-Car moved about 3-4 feet, then died completely.

-I managed to start it again, popped the hood. Pulled all 4 spark-plug-wires. Each cylinder died down appropriately.

-Tried revving it via the throttle body. Same delayed reaction. after the final rev, the car dies on it’s own.

-During the whole process, I could smell nothing but gas, but saw no leaks anywhere.

-I was actually checking out the plugs early yesterday, all looked just fine.

The only other known issues:
-Bad oil pan gasket.
-Spark-plug-tube-seals need replacing.

Recent work done:
-New throttle cable (Last week)
-New clutch cable (Last month)
-New battery (last summer)
-New head gasket (last summer)
-New Main Relay (last summer)
-New HKS High-Power catback exhaust (last summer)
-New aftermarket eBay header (Last month)

Any ideas what could be causing my troubles? I don’t want to continue trying to start it, possibly risking more damage.
My job depends entirely on this car running ASAP, so I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks guys.

I had the same problem with mine, map sensor, timing, and tps changed out with new ones cleared right up!

bump for another issue, more replies!

When mine would start and die right away it was the ignition switch.

Up for more help
