I just wanted to ask what size the rear speakers in the 93 integra are. I replaced the fronts with mid-woofers and separate tweeters last month. I went to the back side this past weekend and looked at the speakers in there and they are Pioneer crap speakers that are really thin and blown.
All in all, I just wanted to ask if the rears are 6.5 like the fronts are. My haynes manual doesn’t give the size of the rear speakers…
The back of the speaker could be wider depending on the model but that would only effect the front doors and may require the speaker pods to be cut. In the rear both sizes will drop in with no issues.

I use 5 1/4 Focal Components up front and use the same in the rear, I also use baffles to make is sound much better
Fronts will take either a 5.25 or a “standard” 6.5", mounting holes are there for both, the rears are a “standard” 6.5", some modding is needed for 5.25".
Do not confuse standard 6.5" speakers with oversized 6.5" speakers, the diff. is the mounting hole diameter, standards are 5" oversized will be bigger then 5" and diameter will depend on make and even model.94
Just to leave a bit of real information for anyone else who pulls this up looking for the rear speaker size and installation information:
The rear speakers on the 3-door/hatch (1990 LS) are NOT in fact 6.5", nor will most 6.5 inch speakers fit, at least not if you want a drop in replacement to go under the existing grilles with no cutting or drilling. They are 160-mm (actually a hair less than that) w. three mounting screws. 6.5" should, but nevertheless does NOT fit into the drop in openings… why?.. because, the original speakers were a press-fit (!) in addition to the three screws.
A Pioneer TS-G1644R will fit if you cut off the outer mounting ears (dremel, etc), but it is not a great speaker, and does not come with a gasket.
I managed to fit a Polk DB651, after sanding the opening in the bracket under the stock grille. This is a better speaker to start with, and comes with a decent quality gasket. It does require for new holes to be drilled because the holes in the speaker basket do not line up with the ones in the bracket. The adapter bracket which comes with this speaker does not fit under the stock grille, nor inside the stock opening without cutting one or the other, and leaving air spaces… (Crutchfield claims the Polk speakers fit with this bracket - NOT!)
It looks like the Polk DB651S (s == slim) would be a better choice, and has mounting holes for an x3 hole pattern, but I just was not willing to return yet another set of speakers to find out.
Apparently the Boston Acoustics has a set of comparable speakers which are supposed to be a more direct fit, but I have no way to confirm that.
There are pre-drilled holes for a 4-screw mount, with a radial offset, but those may not match every speaker.

I posted that to save someone else some time and hassle, not to nitpick (and - sorry if it came off that way!)
Both the Pioneer and the Polks were specified as a direct fit for this car. In both cases something has to be cut, sanded, or ground off. That is not a direct fit in my book. The “slim” version of the Polk may well be a painless fit, but I do not have it to try out.
Bottom line, 160-mm is supposed to be a standard, but with a 22-year-old car, I guess you can’t quite count on that (chuckle).
My 6.5" Pioneers fit the rear perfectly…
The ones from Pioneer I got would have fit except for the mounting ears stick out beyond the 160-mm diameter outline. I just did not want to have to cut or dremmel a brand new speaker (shrug).
I bought a set of the blue 6.5" PYLE speakers for the rear and they did not fit the hole in the rear deck at all.
The speakers came with grille covers and what I did was this:
I popped the grille out of the speaker cover mounting ring.
Then I took the mounting ring for the speaker cover and screwed it down to the mounting holes in the rear deck.
After that, I drilled holes for the speaker itself to mount to the mounting ring.
I put some of that foam with sticky backing around the top of the mounting ring before I screwed in the speakers to it. (I had a bunch of it left over after sealing up my rear tail lights)
The speakers fit great and sounded great too!
For about 2 weeks at least…The blue PYLE speakers are a pyle of JUNK!!
I will replace them with quality speakers that can handle more than 5 watts if I ever get any more money anytime this year. Right now I literally don’t have 2 dollar bills to rub together.
Yeah, well, I did NOT want to do all that, and I just take offense when some crappy sales blurb reads something is “direct fit” (and, oh, btw, w. the ADAPTER), and then even the adapter does not fit (!).
The Polks are overpriced, but they get discounted a lot, and they have a rep for taking a beating. At least according to Polk, they are “marine certified”, which should mean that they can stand a bit of drain water in a hatchback. That was one reason why they were my second choice after the inexpensive Pioneers. The construction seems good, compared to the Pioneer speakers which I am taking back. In defense of Pioneer, for the money, those do sound quite good under a glass hatch in a friends car. The power rating on the Pioneers is almost pure fiction, but what matters is really the sound v. price, IMO.
Hey - if you want I can post some pics here, but its your thread, so, your call, and I am not here to pi$$ on anyone’s boots …
PMI is correcct on the rear speakers… they are an off size… I dropped 6.5’s back there and they work, but did not drop cleanly into the pods as expected… And most places you look will tell you for a 90-93 teg that the rear speaker is a 6.5" when it stops raining I’ll post up pics.
I have those same Pyles haha… mine have been fine & handle better when run with the bass turned down after adding a sub… those blue pyles are descent for mids and highs & do allright in conjunction with the yellow component Pyle’s, but if running full range tend to vibrate the tweeter pods loose… can’t expect much for speakers that ran me maybe 70 bucks for for both sets I’ll be replacing them with Polk DB521 in the rear and DB6501 components up front. I went and listended to them at a local shop and they sound rediculously good…
the initial speakers were only ever intended to mute the squirrel battle from having cheap coilovers on…
