I just got a 97’ JDM B18B swapped into my 90’ Integra. Everything is running great but I have noticed my car doesnt heat up as much as it did prior to the swap. It used to heat up and stay just under half way on the temp guage. Now it barely heats up to 1/4 of the way and drops down to about a 1/8 of the way alot while I’m driving. Whats going on?
I just drove to work today and the temp guage didnt budge the whole way, and it is about a 20 minute drive. It was pretty cool this morning, about 50 degree’s, but it still should of moved up somewhat. On that drive it usually heats up to normal operating temp about half way there so not budging at all is definitely not right. What gives? Like I said it was warming up fine before the swap (always stayed a little under half way) and now last night it never warmed up over 1/4 of the way and this morning it didnt even move at all. Any ideas?
Is that a bad problem or a good problem? I really would’nt worry.Hows ur fan connected???Because i have my fan on all the time and my engines usally stays real cool too.But i love it that way compared to the other way around.
Well it was still idling real high because it was cold after driving it for 20 minutes still. Maybe I wouldnt mind if it warmed up enough to stop idling too high but for the needle not to move at all during a 20minute trip definitely isnt right. It was atleast warming up about 1/4 of the way yesterday and idling perfectly and now that its not warming up at all its idling too high.
thermostat is probably stuck open. look into replacing it.
Should I get one that opens at a lower temp. or just get a OEM one? I can get a spoon one that opens at 170 I think (stock is 190 I believe) for about the same price as a oem one. Just wondering what affect putting one in with a lower opening temp will have. The car is basically stock and mostly just a daily driver, but they are the same price so which one should I get?
go SPOON, lower operating temps. are always a good thing.
