A/C Compressor Swap ~PICS~

Hello and Welcome to how to Swap A/C Compressors.

The swap, if all steps are followed, should only take up to one hour.

First, lets start with what the tools you are going to need ~PICS #1~

UNPLUG THE NEGATIVE WiRE of the BATTERY!!!

First Step.
Remove the Power Steering Pump ““BUT DO NOT REMOVER ANY HOSE FROM IT””, once done bend it towards the outside of the car, this will imply removing the belt from it.~PIC~

Second.
Remove the hoses from the compressor and bend them towards the front of the car. ~PIC~

Third.
Remove the Condensating Fan. Then one on the driver side of the car. This will make the job EASSSYYY. ~PIC~

Forth
Unplug the compressor power cable ~PIC~

Fifth

This little 10mm bolt will loosen the belt tensioner of the compressor. You may want to loosen (not remove) the 14mm bolt holding it. Loosen the belt and remove it.

Sixth

The compressor looks like the pic if looked from the front. Remove all 4 bolts holding the compressor.
When all four are removed, then remove slowly, trying not to bang it with anything.

Now Installing the new one, just do all the steps backwards (6-5-4-3-2-1)

Congratulations you got a new compressor.

is that all that has 2 be done? is it hard 2 take out the belt and put it back on? cani change my r-12 to r-134 doing this?

you got to buy a retrofit kit at your local autoparts shop to convert to r134.
the kit includes H and L R134 plugs and new O-Rings for the whole system

is it hard to convert it 2 r-134?

its as easy as changing the fittings and rechariging, goto autozone they sell a complete kit with everything you need including the r-134A

when you do a retrofit arent you suppose to release all of the r-12 before upgrading to the 134??

if you are fixing your a/c most likely your r-12 is all gone, so no problem with that.

yea i was just saying that incase someone was going to retrofit and didnt remove their 12

this definitely comes in handy since i believe my compressor is shot. i just read another thread talking about how to check it while in the car with seeing if the clutch is activating, etc. after i check that i’ll know that changing it out if it’s bad won’t be much of a hassle:clap: i live in Hawaii so living without A/C is ok only when the trade winds are blowing.

hey my a/c works but it blows out hot air!! and is my passenger radiator fan suppose 2go on? cause it doesnt help please!! i already replaced my fuses but still not cold!! it used 2 be a little cold but now its not! HELP!! and i just found out earlier that my fans work but da passenger side one comes on it makes like a super loud noise when its spinning!! anyone can help me with this? thanks!! hey anybody stay here in missouri? im in saint charles zumbhel!! hit me up anybody htanks!
