A/C hoses

one of my A/C hoses needed replacing because the rubber part bursted. the line i am talking about is the one that goes from the condenser to the compressor. it is routed in a U-shape right in front of the motor. i was wondering if there was any reason why this line was routed this way. also, there is a place i can go to that uses the stock ends of the line and just reclamps a new hose. my question is: would anything be affected if i were to have the line shortened quite a bit so that the line has a more direct path from condenser to compressor? the original line took up alot of space between the engine and the radiator and if i could shorten up the line so it wouldn’t route in that U-shaped path, it would free up alot more space for my wastegate and dumptube.
