when recharged, the a/c works fine, but as soon as you turn off the engine, it starts to hiss under the dashboard. any helpful solutions or specifically whats hissing under the dash board? i would like to know what the problem is before a mechanic charges hundreds of dollars for one small part. thanks!
the only thing under the dash ac related which refrigerant flows through would be you evaporator you could try an ac system dye kit which you put in the ac system and it glows under an ultraviolet light and wherever the leak is the dye will come out of that spot too. The DIY kits arent to expensive and maybe cheaper than a mechanic to do the same thing.
thanks hondattic! would you be able to tell me where exactly the evaporater is located? my a/c was recently converted to 134a and it had dye in it already. i’m wondering if the dye would still be present where the leak is.
it will be. but you’ll need a black light and the proper glasses to see it.
evaporator is located up in the passenger footwell, i believe
thanks welfare! i’ll take a look!
sorry i didnt reply i forgot i post something here and as the other person said its located up under the passenger side dash directly behind the glovebox and the dye will be in in your system until your refrigerent is replaced here is an idea of the light and glasses look like.http://www.amazon.com/Tracerline-TRATP8621-Complete-Detection-Starter/dp/B0017R7ESG and a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wZy97Zpus8&feature=related
