my ac switch will not light up when i press it. and no cold air will come out when i press it. i have looked at all the fuses and i have not found one dead on yet. can someone please help me if having the same problem.
Your out of freon. That is why your ac light will not come on. Time to recharge.
i have this too, cept at least my air gets cool(er) than without my a/c button clicked on.
so would the lack of freon keep the light from coming on, or is it due to a loose connection or fuse etc, i only ask because my air gets cooler
if it is low on the freon it won’t come on due to damage could be caused to the system if it is ran without the freon. so its kinda a self safety for the ac system not to kick on when low on freon. try getting it recharged and possible check for leaks and go from there

Okay, then I have this question. My AC light doesn’t come on but I can hear the compressor “kick” on. Would the lack of freon still allow the compressor to “kick” on but not light up the switch?
The A/C switch is probably bad. You can either bypass the fan/AC switch (which I can’t currently remember) or buy a new switch. It’s about $28 at the dealer. Usually in stock.
I had the same problem you said above. It didn’t have anything to do with refrigerant being low.
If you are talking about me then thanks for the info.
Actually wait no, I misread your post. My light wouldn’t come on, and the compressor would NOT “kick” on. If possible, try to swap with someone who has a known good switch. They’re super easy to replace anyway.
I would assume that if your compressor is coming on but no cold air, then it’s a refrigerant problem.
so if i got a new switch it would work right. or do u think that my freon needs to be recharged. my ac was working a while back before the winter and then when summer came it would not work.
ditto. That is exactly what happened to mine.
Same Problem
Hey guys, old thread I know. Anyway, I have the exact same problem-the light on my a/c button won’t come on, and the clutch doesn’t engage when the button is pressed. I just pulled the switch out of the dash and was wondering-does anyone know how to test it with a multimeter? i would rather eliminate problems before replacing parts (read: spending money) that aren’t necessarily known to be the offending elements.

How many pins are on the connector?
why dont u just jump the compressor and see if the compressor is bad??
I’m pretty sure the light will still illuminate if the compressor is bad, as the circuit is still completed
corrrect…butwhat im saying is to jump the compressor to check which is the main problem the compressor, swittch, or low freon, or blend door
There are two sets of connections. I believe the smaller whitish plug is for the condenser fan, but I’m not sure.
What you want to do is, with the switch out and button depressed, test for continuity between the pins in the lighted circuit. Wich pins those are, I’m not sure. If I remember tomorrow, I’ll have a look at work
