Been running into a few problems with my swap and conversion.
I have what I believe is a 91 B16 vtec head. I’m only running off the casting stamp off the front of the head that says 9|1.
I need to mount my power steering pump. I tried but I cannot get the PS bracket to mate to the head. Do I need a OBD0 head bracket? What model bracket would work?
I tried plugging in my gauge cluster (Went from auto to manual) but the center plug wont plug into it’s slot. Is there a difference in years? Or is the harness different between auto and manual? See the picture for the green pigtail:
The slot on the cluster is yellow, pigtail is green. I don’t like this lol.
I’m sure I have a few other issues, but I can’t think of them for the time being.
For the PS, you will need the upper bracket from a B16/B17 (P61?). I believe Colin is selling one. As for the gauge, let me check my spare that I have in my garage.
Okay cool that’s what I’m mostly concerned with for now. We have a local honda website that tons of parts sell through everyday, so I’ll just find one local lol
Isn’t that green plug for the P-R-N-D-2-1 lights in an AUTOMATIC cluster?
And the vtec heads do take a different upper-PS mounting bracket. LS, B16/B18C and B17 are all different brackets. If you’re installing the motor into a LS/GS/RS, you’d want the B16 bracket. IF I recall correctly, I could be incorrect.

That’s what I was thinking, but I didn’t have dash lights when I turned my lights on. I know there is a ground under the dash, i’m pretty positive I bolted that down. But still, there is a yellow socket on the back of the cluster. What is ran off the socket? I can’t find wiring diagrams hardly anywhere, nothing for under dash stuff.
My car is a 91 RS. No cruise, no ABS, no AC (Not that that matters here lol).
I’m thinking it has something to do with extra features. The one I pulled out of had cruise and ABS IIRC. I’m just confused as the green plug does not plug in now, and there is a yellow connection in place of it. So my theory is that something will not work now. As stated, there were no dash lights, but aren’t they dependant on all the switches on the dash trim being plugged in?

The green plug (Unified already mentioned this) is for the auto selector lights. You won’t use it, set it aside and forget about it. The clear box with the yellow connector is for cruise control. The only light it controls is the cruise control light. Your RS didn’t come with CC so you won’t have the connector for it. You don’t need it, forget about it. Your problem with the lights is elsewhere. Check your bulbs, connections, wires, etc…Hope this helps.
It certainly does help. Uni left it open ended so I was looking for more insight. It’s good to know I won’t need any of that. I’ll check for grounds and plug all the plugs up. I was just waiting to figure this out before I put the dash back together!
Also, you can remove that plastic CC cover if you want and discard it. It just snaps right off, no tools required. Remove it (optional) with the CC light and wires since you don’t have any use for it.
So turns out all is well. All dash lights work now. I left the CC box on as it isn’t harming anything, incase I ever need to trade it for a different cluster for some reason. Thanks again for the help!
