2ndJenn, the private security contractors are based out of a port fully licensed for the weapons. They meet up with the ships mid-trip, escort them through the pirate-infested waters, and then travel back to their “home” location. The ships don’t make port with any weapons on board.

Pretty much. Couple rangers I knew in A-Stan are doing it now. Quarter mil a year to kill pirates and get a great tan? Decent.

I do kind of feel bad for the Somali’s in a way. They’re country is so beyond fucked this is what they do for scraps and it’s sad. At the same time though, they’re participating in big-boy games with live weapons, this is the playing field.
