A quick "how-to" needed on bleeding the clutch/tranny fluids?

THIS IS WHAT A FRIEND TOLD ME BEFORE HE SIGNED OFF TO GO TO BED:
Please tell me if he is on the right track, and, if you could give me alittle more step-by-step, in detail, that would be hot…thanks alot!!!

He said and I quote:

“Basically, you need you and a friend (one to pump the pedal, one to work the bleeder valve)…a bottle of new brake fluid…and whatever size wrench the bleeder valve takes (prolly a 10mm or something similar).
You basically…
open the clutch resevoir cover…
open the bleed valve by the slave cyl (somewhere under the car near the trans)…
Have friend push pedal to ground and hold it there…
close valve…have friend let up.
Add new fulid to resevoir…
Repeat.
Eventually, you’ll have sucked all new fluid into the system and removed any dirty shit and air…”

The G2 has a cable tranny, therefore, no slave cylinder, no need to bleed anything for the clutch. HTH.

Just out of curiosity, but why is this being posted again?

b/c i couldnt find the original post, so if you could link me that would be great…
ok…so if i am having slipage issues, then it must be the clutch…?

Yeah, I would think your clutch is going bad.

ok cool, and b/c the tranny is cable driven, there really shouldnt be any other issuse, besides the clutch…
could you tell me, in a little bit more detail, how the cable trans accually works, technically?
thanks so far
brian

BUMP

converting 91 auto to manual tranny

hi there… i was wondering if you guys knew how to install manual pedals on a 91 integ which use to be auto to manual tranny. how to wire up the stuff n if i need to drill some holes. email me at lilnbbs@yahoo.com if anyone has any clues on how to install manual pedals on a 91 auto

leo

hey leo, the manual pedal assembly bolts right into the old mounting points for the auto pedal assembly.
as for wiring, there isnt really any wiring other than key release, the car wont start unless this is being bypassed/button pushed/wired together, and the reverse light connection (which i still havent connected yet…)
for the car wont start wiring, you can either have it stock style, on the clutch button, or have it together all the time, so you dont need to hold the clutch in when you start the car.
and those harnesses are in the center console by the cig lighter.

alot of this could be found by searching, there are writeup’s that a few people have done that are in the teg tips aswell…

HTH

if you guys don’t know yet…the 90 and 91 tegs tranny are much more different than 92 and 93…90 and 91 run with cable wires and cannot bleed the clutch…i don’t know how it works but this is how it is…
