Hey I was checking out a couple of pics of some 93’s and I noticed that the stock cluster goes to 9k with a 8k redline. I checked with the people to see it could possibly been GSR but they said it wasn’t. My 93 GS redlines at 65 or whatever it is normally. Why the difference?:hyper:
Stock redline for 90-91 clusters should be ~6600RPM, and gauge goes to 8k. Stock for 92-93 non-VTEC is 6800 and gauge goes to 8k. Stock VTEC redline is 8k, gauge goes to 9k. IIRC the JDM tach for VTEC redlines at 8k and gauge goes to 9.5k.

this man is good. but im still confused :dunno:
8200rpm R/L to 9500rpm here. :ohyeah:
…if I get a JDM cluster, can I just take my MPH out of my stock cluster and put it in the JDM one? I’m lazy, so if there’s a way around trying to use the kilo one, I’m down.
Orrrrr… Do what I did. Take the tach out of a JDM 91-92 VTEC cluster and put it in your cluster so it looks like it belongs there. Very easy. If you get a JDM 89-90 tach the hash marks won’t match the ones on your speedo. Learned the hard way.
Sounds good but does it matter that my usdm tach only goes to 8k and the jdm one goes to 9? To me it wouldn’t read accurately. The needle that would normally be pointing at say 6k on the usdm would be pointing to say 7 on the jdm?
It reads just fine. It takes an electronic signal and converts it into a needle reading within the tach it’self.
IE - it is self contained.
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the info, now I’m gonna bid on one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4651362192&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 :hump:
eBay is blocked for me while at work :gunright: :wahmb:, so I can’t view this. Just make sure it is from a 91-92 XSi or other VTEC model R/L starts at 8200. If it is from an 89-90 the hash marks won’t look the same as your speedo, and the R/L starts at 8000. You can always use a USDM 92-93 GSR tach too, 8000 R/L to 9000rpm.
