A sexy, yet comforatable, RIDE HEIGHT

I’m really sick and tired with the “lowered car syndrom”. Even though I think my car looks sexy at its height, not even really being slammed, I really want to raise it back up.
What are some #‘s that would give me a comforatable ride, yet not show too much wheel gap. I have 15’s so what would look good? I also have the camber kits all the way around.
I was thinking of getting new springs and getting rid of the coil-overs. What’s some good springs for a nice ride?
I’ve looked at what everyone else has, but I need an honest opinon. No hatin’. Thanks

Sorry for the length
I’m just a little ROOKIE BEYOTCH!

look for a ‘sport’ spring, with a drop of 1"-1.5"

Check out this thread, including my (long response) post at the bottom:

Thanks a lot
Yeah its from super troopers, “I got you good you fucker!”(officer farva)
So the best ride height is probably 1.5 in front and 1.8 in the rear?

Any recomendations on struts? And it looks like the eibach sportline springs will work great. The drop looks good on the blue teg w/ 15’s

is the other way around, you want the front drop more. 1.8f 1.5r. As for shocks, if you have $, get Koni Yellow, if you wanna go cheap, get Koni Red.

Cheapest place to go? Besides ebay?

Code is right, the drop (for the Eibachs) is 1.8 front, 1.5 rear, which is normally what you want to do (drop the front more).

As for struts, well of course I’de recommend Tokicos (Blues or Illuminas), but I had also considered KYB AGXs, but ended up with the Tokico Blues, as we can see. My friend has the Tokicos on his 240, and they have been on for about 2 1/2 years, and he hasn’t had a problem yet. I have heard that Konis are nice, but I went for cheaper price, and what I could easily find on ebay.

Other then ebay, I don’t really know any specific places you can buy this stuff new, other then a speed shop. I just deal so much with ebay, that thats where I buy everything now.

So best of luck with everything

I’ve got 2.0" in th front and 1.8" in the rear. They are made by Suspension Techniques. Doesn’t looked slammed. Ride is firm but compliant. I’m also rolling on 15" with 205/50 Falkens. I chose KYB Gr2 shocks/struts. Very affordable package.

GR2 won’t last long with such a drop, let us know when they blow.

Installed in this daily driver August 2001. Not blown yet.

“Ride Better on KYB Gas Shocks.
World-Class engineering and quality have made KYB the original equipment shocks for Lexus, Toyota, Saturn, Infiniti, Chrysler, and Ford.”

Quoted right from the company website. Do you know anyone that blew one up using the same set up? How long did they have them on before they failed?

i had KYB GR-2’s on dropzone coilovers dropped 3.5" for a month then switched to skunk2 2.5" drop springs. that was last june. still fine.

and about the koni yellows. they are pretty stiff, if you want a comfortable ride, dont get them. KYB GR-2’s are very comfortable. can hardly notice the difference between stock springs and stock shocks and skunk2 2.5" drop springs and kyb gr-2’s.

Do you think they will post something like: “Our shocks will not handle anything more than 400lbs spring rate… and will wear out with 1.5” drop or more…" ?

I am telling you man, i’ve taked to KYB and asked their shocks spec, GR2 can handle AT MOST 350lbs front, and 222lbs rear, and CAN handle approx. 1.4" drop. Or NO MORE than 150% of stock spring rate.

I wouldn’t take those shocks to the extreme tho… Anything surpass the shock spec will only cause premature/permanent wear to the shock.

I’ll keep that in mind for the future. Thanks.

i have Nuespeed Sport springs with KYB GR-2s. the ride is excellent and the height is just right for me. i forget the spring rate, but i think its somewhere around a 1.8" drop.

I didnt read the whole thread cause I am lazy but its not the ride height that makes it uncomfortable, its the spring rates. See, aftermarket companies dont want your shit bottoming out so they make the spring rates higher as the drop gets lower. You know, because the lower you go, the less suspension travel you have to work with, and the higher the spring rates have to be to limit deflection enough so your suspension doesnt bottom. Sooooooo you can go really low and still retain a decent ride by using soft spring rates, all you have to do is make sure you either dont hit really big bumps or have enough suspension clearance (shock travel AND UCA clearance) so that stuff doesnt interfere with other stuff.

If you want to go pretty low and still have a good ride height get some civic (EF or something) ground control or skunk coilovers. They have around 300f and 200r spring rates which is just slightly higher than stock.
