A very eventful day

What happened: My lower balljoint snapped today.

This is more of a rant I guess.

An eventful day. Why? Cause me and my friend planned to go hike at Echo Mountain at 6am. I only had 3 hrs of sleep prior because I wasn’t tired and couldn’t sleep early. Anyways, the hike was awesome. The Railroad house/station/hotel up there was good to see. Too bad they demolished it. Anyway we were done at 12pm. Had In&Out. Awesome by the way. Dropped my friend off and was on my way home.

I’m in the SGV. I was on Rosemead s/b about to get on the 60east. I just barely turned my wheel to the right and SNAP car lowered in height on the driverside tire squeal so I knew what just happened. I pulled to the right as far as I can and braked. Took a couple pics.

Not even 2mins and a cop pulls up behind me. Asked if I needed a tow truck. I said, “Not yet, I need to make a few calls.” Made a few calls and no one had AAA. One did but she didn’t pick up. I was running out of options. Few minutes went by and the cop said I needed to move my car, I’m “blocking the road”. He said he can let me stay longer if I can move it off the road and into the dirt area. I’m already at the edge of the road, then it’s like a 6 inch drop into the dirt area. There’s PLENTY of space on the left side of my car for cars to get thru and there was a lot of cars that did. They didn’t even need to SQUEEZE thru. I’m not BLOCKING the road. I have my hazards on and my car is bright green, you can’t miss that and slam into me. So I looked at the cop and said, “There’s no way my car can move right now.” Derp.

I made a few more calls and no luck. The cop already called a tow truck to come. He didn’t even wait for me to confirm that I needed one. Anyways, I thought, “F it” the truck is here. At least it’s a flatbed. I was tired, needed to go use the restroom really bad, so all I could think of is home. Tow it home to Westco. There goes $188. The guy had a problem dropping my car off. He didn’t want to rip my front bumper off cause his truck is stuck at a certain angle. So he gets his jack. This is what upsets me the most at the moment. He moved it to the undercarriage area where your feet is at, right underneath the steering wheel. I told him to lift at the rails cause it’s stronger there. He insisted. I insisted. He did his way. I watched that spot bend… Then I pointed it out to him. He just kept quiet. Fcker.

NOW he listens and lifts at the rail. Car dropped off successfully. I got in my car and felt the bump with my shoes on. MAN THIS IS GOING TO BOTHER ME. DAMMIT. I’ve thought about writing a complaint but it’s an old car. If it’s a new car then I definitely will write a complaint to the company and want it fixed. I’m pretty sure if I did, the driver would deny it since it’s an old car and whatnot.

I hate to say this and bring it up again: “When you need a cop, they take forever to come. When you don’t need them, they’re right there quick.”

Oh, and when I got home, my friend that has AAA called back. If the cop didn’t show up and pressured me, I would’ve saved a few bucks!

F that cop for pressuring me and F that tow truck driver for putting a nice dent on my undercarriage.

That sucks, on the bright side you are alive and it could have been much much worse. The officer may have felt it would slow down any potential traffic, he was just thinking of safety, They did the same thing to my brother. Hope all works out homie.

Same thing happend on my db1, shit sucks man

That sucks Peter, REALLY sucks actually… Once again, proof why I hate cops and love AAA. I would have been such a jerk to both that cop and the tow truck driver it isn’t even funny.

Damn man, that really was an eventful day. Sad to see your car like that, but very glad you are safe. This event has convinced me to get AAA.

At least it happened before you were about to get on the highway. Same thing happened to me while doing 55 coming home from work one night. In the left lane and all of a sudden car just shot across all lanes into the guard rail. Thank god no cars were next to me or even a 18 wheeler.

damn bro dat really sux but could easily be worse… do you know what caused it to snap like that??? hope you fix it soon.

Same exact thing happened to my wife here in the city, cop showed up, told me I couldnt fix it and acted like an ass the whole time
I was ready to go ape shit on the guy, thankfully the truck driver was awesome and droped the car right into my garage

Seriously cops need to chill the hell out and realize some people still ACTUALLY fix their own cars

Yeh, that’s what I’ve thought too: at least it didn’t happen on the highway. Maltbeer, I remembered your story! That’s really intense and scary. I just got it fixed today. $379 for both balljoints and both axles. The right side was getting bad too. Found out I need new brake pads cause they’re thin and starting to squeak, great!

Driving is better! I remember accelerating hard and the car would go right, let off the gas and the car would go left. New balljoints fixed it. I kept thinking it was my tires and brakes. Going back to the shop tomorrow for timing belt service and alignment since there wasn’t time to get it done as they were closing. Sighs. I need a second job or sell my body lol. jk. This event took all my savings.

Thats a shitty day right there!

I hear you guys on the fact of rushing to get cars out of the intersection. but sometimes they have to kind of be a dick to get people to relize the severity of the issue. Ive been in this very situation, cop was a dick and all but from the cops perspective. not only are you at risk, but others are also at risk of either hitting you, him or each other and well he wouldnt really be doing his job if he was creating a situation like that, so you can make a couple more phone calls! I do agree that most cops need more training on dealing with there people skills…

OP glad to hear all is back together and criusing again

edit

that’s f’ed up!

yeh, shitty day.

i saved some money today by changing my own front brakes. so that’s good news.
